1989 Iroc 350, Wisconsin

The car is a 1989 Iroc 350, the car has 116 000 miles on the meter, but I think its been running for a while without the speedo.
Car has high compression heads, is ported and has a mild cam installed. I dont know what it is because its done by previous owner.
It has a Flowmaster exhaust installed. It also has a cow hood and is repainted. The paint is a bit "orange skin", but some hours wetsanding the car would most likely make it look really good.

I think the car was a project car and that the previous owner had big plans with it, but for some reason had to get rid of it. He has put a lot of money into the engine and the exhaust which I believe is the model 17228 if you go to their site and take a look.

I bought my Iroc last november and I am considering parting with it already. The reason for this is that I am not a mechanic, and it needs a little bit of work. I dont think its anything big, but I dont think I want to deal with it anymore.
I have replaced alternator, starter engine, plugs and cap, speedometer wire and the speedometer gear, transmission filter and fluid, oil and oilfilter, and most likely some stuff that I cant remember right now.
You might as yourself why I want to get rid of it. What is wrong with it. This is what I know is wrong with it: The speedometer still doesnt work. I dont know if I did something wrong when I installed it, but nevertheless. it doesnt work. Temperature gauge doesnt work either. I dont know if its the sensor that is gone or if its just the gauge. I dont think the AC works, but the previous owner claimed that it works. I have somehow disabled the fan, most likely when I put in the new stereo. Most likely nothing big. The heading is not there. some plastic interior is missing. like the plastic around the front windshield and the clear plastic in front of the gauges.

The positive thing is that the T-Top is not leaking too bad. its only dripping a little bit by the windows. Transmission seems to be strong, and the engine runs good. Exhaust sounds awsome and the front tires will make it one more season. The seats are there, and are a little dirty, but I am planning on cleaning them fairly soon. There is no rust on the car besides a little bit under the hatch.

I can keep on writing, but its better that you send me an email if you have any questions.

Price... I dont know. I have put about 4 grand into it including transportation when I bought it. I want to limit my losses, but Im not selling at any price. I need a new car if I sell this so I cant give it away.

Wow.. This was a looong post.

Re: 1989 Iroc 350, Wisconsin

I am dreaming about 4 000 so that I will get even, but but I am open for any offers.
I live in La Crosse, WI which is at the Wisconsin/Minnesota border if you follow I90.

The body has some minor dents, but I would say that its not too bad overall. You notice the paint when you are close up, but the car looks great at a distance, as you can see in the pictures. The interior is okay, but a bit dirty, and the screws are not there so its all "loose" in the trunk.

The main reason for me to NOT fix the car myself is that I am here as an International Student and are going back home to Europe next year. So I dont want to put a lot of money into a car that I am just keeping for a year.

I can make close up pictures of anything you guys wish and email it to you. Just make a wish list of what you want to see, and I will send pictures enough to kill your hard drive if thats what you wish to do.

I dont think I am interested in any trade offs.

Re: 1989 Iroc 350, Wisconsin

Nobody interested huh? The 4 grand was a wish, and people can feel free to come over and take a look at the car and give me an offer.

I would prefer it that you came and looked at the car so that I can point out the things that you should be aware of. I dont want anybody to come back and bitch me out because of "I thought you meant..."

Re: 1989 Iroc 350, Wisconsin

Well, Im interested, for about $3000 OR a trade for a 79 Trans Am.

https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/fire...ns-am-ws6.html

The other thing is I wouldn't be able to buy the car till the end of summer.

Just to clarify, the AC (which I would remove any way), the temp gauge (which i can fix easily) and the heater fan are the only things that DONT work?

Well, I dont know if you like my offer, or if you want to trade (I would give you my car and some money) but if your interested, I want to see pictures of the stuff you say is missing.

Thanks

Re: 1989 Iroc 350, Wisconsin

The speedometer doesnt work either right now. I replaced the wire and the gear in the tranny, but I might have done something wrong when I did it, or else there is something further inside the tranny that isnt working. I dont know much about cars so I could not tell you what it could be.
I put the ad out here a day when I had some starter problems, right after I replaced the old starter, and it was only a bad connection to the battery so I was all fed up with the car. I think $ 3000 might be a bit on the low side of what I want from it because the car is not as bad as I might have made it look when I put the ad out here.
I dont wish to do a trade. I will just pay my loans and start walking and catching rides with friends if I sell her. There is no lien on the car, so you dont have to worry about that.

Give me your best offer in PM and a day or so to think about it and we might have a deal.

I will be in Europe from July 16th to august 30th.
