1985 Camaro IROC Z-28 NEW Only 5 Miles!!

Up for sale is a VERY RARE 1985 Chevrolet Camaro IROC Z-28 coupe. Yes, you read correct; this car has only 5 original miles on the odometer! Some of you, if not many have already heard of, or even seen this car in person. It has become very popular since the thread that was started on the thirdgen.org site which has now grown to 8 pages on this car alone!

The IROC option was first introduced in 1985 for the Camaro and this particular car has NEVER even been dealer prepped yet! In fact, it was just recently taken out of storage for almost 24 years! As you can see in the pictures, the front chin spoiler hasn’t been installed yet, because that was a part of the dealer prep. I’m sure the new owner will want to make the final decision to install it or not. It is still wrapped in plastic, as well as all the hardware to install it with. This car still has the factory markings on the glass, the original window sticker, and the interior is still wrapped in plastic just like the factory left it. It even smells new inside still!

This car was ordered special and purchased brand new 5-8-1985 and was put directly into storage straight from the transport truck. It was not touched until removed from storage April of 2009. Vehicle comes with owner’s manual, build sheet, Certificate of Origin, customer receipts, 85 Camaro Brochure, and optional locking rear deck for trunk (Not shown in pictures) Options include: 5.0L 4bbl Carb V8, 5-Speed Manual Transmission, Brand New 245/50ZR/16 Goodyear Eagle RSA Tires, Brand New AC Delco Battery, T-Tops, Power Windows, Power Locks, Air Cond, Limited Slip, Power front & rear Disk Brakes, Fog Lamps, Power Antenna, Heavy Duty Cooling, Premium AM-FM Cass Radio w/EQ and front & rear floor mats.

This IROC starts and runs beautiful, needs NOTHING, and looks fantastic!! This is truly a ONE OF A KIND IROC and a great example of a preserved Time Capsule. I have taken this car to many Camaro Car Shows, and as far as I know, this is the lowest mile 85 IROC in the world, so if you’re looking for a rare treasure you can put in your garage, or take to car shows and show off, this is it! This IROC continues to draw crowds at every Camaro Car Show that I have taken it to. People just can’t believe that a car this old can still be brand new!

This cars paint was gently brought back to life after years of storage with professional products from Griot’s Garage. It was painstakingly done with their random orbital polisher and fine line of gentle polishes. I can personally guarantee that there are zero buff marks in the paint because a buffer was never used. Buffers are almost guaranteed to leave permanent buff marks in the paint, especially black paint. This IROC is for sale a few other places online also, so if it sells, I will post it and remove the ad.
MORE pictures can be seen HERE and at photo bucket HERE. Sorry, I couldn’t get all my pictures to display on this page for some reason.

This car has been on eBay since yesterday, and "IROCZTWENTYGR8" (Administrator) was kind enough to allow me to place a link to the eBay auction, so here it is!! Just hit $19,100 a little while ago! Thanks again Admin!!

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask. Serious inquires only please. Asking Price $34,000 OBO PM me for more info. Car currently located in Plymouth, IN Thank you!! KEITH

I think unknowingly i've been following this car lol. Was it locked in a truck trailer during storage?

There was a video of a 1985 iroc being revealed from the truck and it's exstraction from the trailer and it had the same options and same everything that has been stated up along w/ the 4miles on Odo. I watched it like a million times b/c i always dream of suttin like that opening a trailer or a barn and finding a fully original muscle car. Then i had alot of pics of it for desktops lol, found 1st thread on it here in history, then randomly found it on ebay and saw it here lol

Yes, this is the very same car....It’s kind of cool knowing how many people have followed this car. From the very first youtube video, the cleaning process and all the work that was done, and even the car shows. I just hope that one of those passionate Camaro owners buys this car. That way we will be able to continue to follow this car, and be able to rest as night knowing it will be kept original and safe. I will miss this car sooo much; I wish I had the money to buy it. I would give anything to have it sitting in my garage covered up!!

I think I am going to ask my boss if I can get my "Employee discount" on this car, and then see if I can "charge" it to my account. Then I can pay for it every month for the rest of my life! LOL!!

i really do wish i had 20+ grand to drop on that iroc, or a place to even keep it, i hope whoever gets it keeps it the way it is,

this is the only type of car i would ever like to see kept a trailer queen and kept in that condition(and by that i mean kept in Pre dealer prep condition) its remarkable to see one in pre-prep condition

Im going to throw this out there. One individual should not own that car. That should go to a museum where it can be cared for and admired by many. It is a beautiful car which i have followed as well.

Re: 1985 Camaro IROC Z-28 NEW Only 5 Miles!!

If the car was mine I would be selling it at Barrett Jackson/ Scottsdale. That is just the kind of car that they would love to have on their dockett. Sure the commision costs are high, but that is where all the big collector dollars come together every winter. It would be fun to watch the bidding. In my opinion it should be in a collection somewhere where it could be seen by the public. If it would be driven at all it would be just another used car.

ive seen that car in magazines and on youtube and now this place. thought the ppl were never going to sell that car. wish it would go to a popular museum and not to one single person who has the money to buy a car that would just sit. and i agree with Hankl69 driving only makes it one of our cars...used!

Re: 1985 Camaro IROC Z-28 NEW Only 5 Miles!!

i agree with all the statements, this car should either be in a museum or in a collection of someone who is generous enough to allow the public to view their cars, regardless the car should remain a trailer queen and never be driven, and be owned by someone who is willing to spend the time and money keeping it in this condition

still wish i had the money and storage to own it, i would let anybody who wanted to come see it, but no touching unless your wearing gloves i would provide lol

Just to set things straight. This car never went to the Barrett Jackson Auction; it did go to the Kruse Auction in Auburn, IN. The bidding on the car was terrible, but I don’t feel bad, the bidding on everything that day was terrible. I think people were scared about spending money because the owner of Kruse owned a bunch of money to a lot of people at the time, including many banks!!

Not sure what came of that, but I would be *issed off if I sold a car, and had $30,000-$40,000 coming to me, but didn’t see it for 6 months or more.

Oh well, we will have to see what this auction does. There are already over 300 people watching this auction now!! I think that’s more people interested in this car then any auction. Granted, some of the people watching are just “watching”, but I bet there are quite a few people who are buyers and are just waiting to the last day to bid.

I think most of the people watching are doing just that, watching. Right now I'm probably watching a dozen items on e-bay. I have no intention of bidding on most of them. I'm just curious about what they will be bid up to. I would bet though that at the last minute there will be a few more bids.

I'd love to see this car on either Barrett jackson or mecum. Not only would it fetch a price deserving of such a fine car, but it would give the thirdgens some respectable "face time" on TV

that being said, I'm expecting the price on ebay to go through the roof in the last 60 seconds of the auction

Re: 1985 Camaro IROC Z-28 NEW Only 5 Miles!!

reserve not met at $23k, i might be jumping the gun, but I don't think that auction will meet the reserve price at all. and it's sad cuz what was the MSRP in '85? like $13k?

I don't think it will really jump up that much at the end. But I will be watching it.

almost all ebay auctions that have a high amount of interest double in value in the last 60 seconds of the auction. Experienced Bidders snipe

I will say I rarely post in threads that I am not buying from or offering advice, but holy ****. I have to say this car is among some of the most beautiful peaces of art I have ever sen. Yes I said art. Something that flawless is art. As a thirdgen owner I can only pray to have mine look any where near the condition of this car. Good luck with the sale, hope it gets the money it deserves and the owner(s) it deserves.

This 85 IROC does belong in a museum and no where else and in a glass box as previously stated.

Re: 1985 Camaro IROC Z-28 NEW Only 5 Miles!!

The car was bid up to $27,600 and didn't hit the reserve. No rush of bidding in the last couple of minutes. Meanwhile at Barrett Jackson Palm Beach on Friday a '71 RS Z/28 with 4spd. (less than 10K on the odometer) sold for $55,000 plus the 10% buyers fee. Maybe a few careful miles don't hurt after all.

Re: 1985 Camaro IROC Z-28 NEW Only 5 Miles!!

Call me a Third Gen traitor, but I think $34,000 is just too much. I just think like Chevyt454, I want something that I can beat the snot out of, which is why my IROC now has a couple bent rods. LOL.

I see that type of money going towards an early C6 'Vette, or a late 90's Viper GTS. Not a 15.2 second mid 80's Camaro. Oh well, truly a beautiful car though. I'd like to see it go to a museum, like many have already mentioned.

34k for a base model low option iroc...5k miles or not, is TERRIBLY high.

cool find though, and sexy car...sucks about the lame drivetrain.

thats what i meant to say....

either way, 5 miles...its still horribly overpriced.

car isnt old enough/rare enough to fetch more then it cost brand new in my opinion, those willing to pay more...well you know the saying.."a fool and his money are soon departed"

That's exactly why I'll never buy a super rare car, that collectors would want put in a museum. Anything I've got, I'm going to use, beat the hell out of, and rebuild when necessary.

That's like buying a GSXR 1300, and never revving it above 5K RPM, when it's redline is over 11K RPM.

Re: 1985 Camaro IROC Z-28 NEW Only 5 Miles!!

i can respect the weekend warrior cars that make it out 3-4 days a month for cruising and i can understand why ppl that invest hudreds of thousands into a car they built 100% from the ground up one off everything dont drive theyre cars but maybe once or twice a year i prolly wouldnt id be scared to crash my 200,000 dollar car that took me so long to build.. but ppl that buy nice old chevys slap 454's,572's ls1's all these high dollar 800 hp plus cars and the only running time they get is pulling on and off the trailor its like hey ill trade you my 350 it will get ur car on and off that trailor just just as well, ill even make it all nice and chrome to match the car..

Re: 1985 Camaro IROC Z-28 NEW Only 5 Miles!!

I just wanted to post that I am the current owner of the '85 IROC that was stored in the semi trailer for 24 years. I have a collection of 23 Camaro's 1st through 5th gens. Our collection is open to the public in Franklin, TN and the car is well cared for and has 9 miles on the odometer. Check out our collection at showtimemotorsports.net
