It looks good in the pictures, I wonder if there is more to the story than is shown...

With that said....
You never know what the story is at an auction. I have been a driver at the Chicago Mecum auctions several times. Once I was driver of a low miles 1985 IROC-Z. Black, red cloth interior, TPI, t-tops, 4 wheel discs, car was loaded. It only had about 30K miles on it. All the car needed was a good detailing. I was thinking, "hey, I should own this car!" We spoke to the seller, and said if it doesn't sell, I'll buy it. The seller said, it was his ex-wife's car and he was not going back home with it. As soon as the bidding started, the owner lifted the reserve and the car sold for something ridiculous, like 5K or under.
2 weeks later, I saw it listed on the internet by a dealer for 11 grand.

Someone in another thread mentioned that the middle of the country, IA, NE, MO, etc 3rd gens do not sell for that much... Might have to do with the location...
It would make sense in some respects because there may be plenty of "nicer" cars available in those parts of the country...

The one in the original post was in Missouri based on the plates, wonder where at. Looks to me like the headlight buckets weren't black but it's hard to be sure with the low lighting. The website doesn't say how many miles were on it. Looks like a clean car though.

Middle of the country selling prices aren't true either. I look daily for solid cars & prices are listed pretty high. I have also seen some excellent photography on these ads. Once I go look is where the details of how rough some of these cars are. In person it's a whole different story. There was a yellow IROC locally I was chasing. Guy wanted $2500 but had been repainted, had been stolen & returned, was missing RPO codes & had been pretty abused but solid. I was thinking maybe 2k. Another guy bought it, drove it for about 3 weeks then posted it on CL for $4500. I knew the car and NO WAY that was a $4500 car or even a $3000 car. Just because the pictures look good doesn't mean it is good in person. Lots of repaints, lots of switched interiors, lots of people building cars from junk yard parts. The cars around here for nice originals are still as high as anywhere else.
