3-piece air dam, side deflectors don't fit.

So a couple weeks ago I ordered a new plastic air dam, the three piece style for my 91 Firebird. It has not had an air-dam since I bought it, so I didn't know if it had 3 or single piece air dam, but everything I saw pointed to 91's having the 3 piece. However, when I go to install it the middle piece fit fine, but the side pieces don't even line up with the holes on the black plastic bits that attach to the fender (what are those things called anyway?). Is there more than one style for the side piece the air dam attaches to? I can't guarantee that the ones that are on the car are the originals or off a different car.

Sounds like you may have the parts for a ground FX car and not a formula.

Hmm, it looks like you are probably right, the side pieces do look like the longer style I see in some pics I found. Well that kind of sucks but at least the middle part fits. I didn't even know that there was more than one style of three piece air dam .

What are the part numbers on the two side pieces? If they are the ones I need, I'll buy them off you if you don't need them.

Sorry for the delay. Numbers are:
10118482-RH
10118483-LH

Those two side pieces are for the '90 and earlier cars. The '91 & '92's have different side piece part numbers. That's why they won't fit right.

Are you sure? The listing says 82-92, but that could just be them being incorrect. Now that I look at it I should have noticed GTA in the listing, but I thought they were all the same at the time. What would the difference between a pre 91 and a 91-92 be as far as the sides are concerned?

EDIT:
Ah, I didn't notice this quote:
although requires modifications to the mounting points IF you are replacing a 1pc style airdam with this or using in place of the 91-92 style 3 piece airdam
That's certainly not very clear in the listing, although I'm still curious as to what the difference between the two is. Regardless it wouldn't have fit anyway on my forumla.

I believe that 91's are one piece, but I am not sure if it is the same for a non GFX car

Incorrect. They are three piece for the GFX cars. Not sure about non-GFX cars.

Re: 3-piece air dam, side deflectors don't fit.

The 91-2 ground FX and non ground FX cars have 3piece airdams. (GTAs have a body colored piece that bolts to the top of the center air deflector)
The 85-90 base bird and formula have a 4 piece lower airdam /deflector setup with the bottom being 1 long piece and going from left to right.

Hawks also lists that their 3 piece requires hole modification to mount on 91-92
