Miniram Start Bin 2.0

Ok, I think I have the tune dialed in to a point where I can release a Miniram start bin 2.0. Since so many folks on this board helped me generating this bin, want to "pay it forward" by putting it up for folks who may be struggling.

The one I did previously is pretty much scrap due to having tuned around incorrect incorrect injector offsets as well as my earlier battery vs fuel pump voltage discrepancy. Further, now it's tuned using the WB O2.

The way the car runs now vs before is literally night and day.

General background on my set up so users can compare against theirs...

1.) Miniram intake (non-EGR)

2.) 30 lb Bosch III injectors M-9593-BB302 (0280155759) with correct voltage offset tables (though I have 28 lb/hr in the calibration as the final value I settled on)

3.) Cold air tube with air sensor mounted right in front of the throttle body

4.) AFR 180 heads

5.) Comp Cams 212° duration @.050

6.) This is an $8D mask

Now, VE, PE, and Open Loop are all customized around my set up and injectors and injector constant. These will all likely need to be tweaked for any other set up.

AE is all LT1 as the baseline with minor mods that I found improved throttle response. Only exception is the AE TPS filter coefficient vs RPM (which I left as ANHT... seemed to run better that way).

Inv MAT table and MAT compensation counts table are also LT1-based. However the MAT compensation counts table has been tweaked a little to stabilize BLM's over the wide range of intake air temps. Inv MAT table is LT1 with no mods.

Road speed constant is calibrated for 3.42 differential.

It's also set up for TH700R4.

Other mods (which are very numerous) are in a text file documenting the changes which I'll include with the start bin.

Since I run a large cap distributor, this start bin differs from mine in that it has the spark latency time correction vs RPM set to the AUJP (rather than my ANHT Corvette values).

Anyone who wants it can send me an e-mail at ultm8z@yahoo.com

P.S. All emissions equipment are disabled in the bin except the CCP. I have no EGR or AIR pump on my car. However if you need the emissions reset, let me know and I can generate an alternate bin with those settings put back to AUJP values.

VATS is also disabled for my application. If you need/want it re-enabled, let me know.

ALSO IMPORTANT: Disclaimer => I offer this bin up with no guarantee on it's performance or effects, nor do I take on any responsibility or liability for how its used or anything that happens to your car because of it! Use at your own risk! I have no way of knowing anyone's set up or condition of the engine or how this bin will interact with it.

Lol... I'm glad my travails are paying dividends to other folks.

But seriously, this hobby would literally be impossible for me if it weren't for the generosity of the experts on this board in spending the time to reply to my (often dumb) questions.

So I'm glad to help where I can...

I have a novice question. What does the spark latency time correction vs RPM have to do with whether you have a large cap or small cap distributor?

Ignition modules are different between small cap and large cap.
They have difference in the time it takes for them to operate as the RPM increases and have to be compensated for in the software.
Similar to injector latency offsets but for the ICM.

Are these the same injectors you're running? I've been looking for the correct voltage offsets.

They appear to be the same ones, yes. But to be sure, I'd e-mail them with the p/n I list above and verify.

Re: Miniram Start Bin 2.0

For folks who got a copy of this bin, I recommend plugging the LT4 spark map into it. I'm posting it here for download, converted to the $8D table format.

My spark map in the Miniram 2.0 was super aggressive below 3000 rpm. Probably a little too much. Using the LT4 map seems to give a smoother run through the RPM range and it seemed to have stabilized the AFR's a little as well.

Re: Miniram Start Bin 2.0

Guys, one thing I was thinking...

Please provide feedback on this bin if you would (one person already has via e-mail). I'm curious to see how it's working... Though posting the feedback on the board here would probably be more beneficial though.

Not only that, but I can envision this becoming somewhat of a DIY PROM community project where several versions of this bin are developed and posted (i.e., modified for different cams, cubic inches, etc).

Example: Someone gets a Miniram (or similar manifold), looks up the bin with the configuration closest to his, and then uses that as the start point. It'd certainly save these folks a lot of the iteration headache if the bin they start with is pretty close and just needs minor tweaks.

That's great!!! Your BIN will give folks something to think about if they have a similar set up.

Re: Miniram Start Bin 2.0

Updated...

Added in the LT1 (DA3) Decel enlean values. I found an old post of mine where I did that and it improved the return-to-idle characteristics.

Put it back in again, and sure enough it gave the same benefit. Basically now the transition back to idle is absolutely seamless. It was really good before, but you could kinda feel it jerk around just a tiny bit and the engine not fully want to settle back down into idle (just enough to annoy me).

In reality, the value changes aren't that significant, surprisingly, considering the benefit it gave.

I also lowered the idle speed from 675 to 625 with no loss of smoothness.

Wow, I actually think I'm (dare I say it)... done with this tune and can close up the ECM and put it back up behind the dash! At least until the next dyno day (when I can see if there's any more improvement to be had on PE beyond my current butt-dyno results). I honestly can't think of anything else that needs attention. Suffice it to say, the car just runs like it came out of the factory with the perfect tune on it.

Never EVER thought I'd get to this point. But I have to say, were it not for this forum and the experts here who are so willing to put the time into to help folks like me, there's no way in hell I'd have made it this far.

Any rate, as always this start bin (2.1 now I guess) is still available for anyone who wants it.
