Looking for an owner with a 1989 1LE Camaro
Hi, I'm looking to talk to someone who owns a 1989 Camaro 1LE (a non-R7U) in order to verify some on-car part numbers. As well as some of the components on the car. For example, were the front struts the 1LE part number or the R7U number? Did the Camaro get the 36mm front sway bar with 1LE or was that only an R7U add?
I know there are so few of the cars out there ... might be a challenge to find someone. Out of 37 possible cars ... was hoping a few were here.
PM me please.
Thanks,
Mark.

Re: Looking for an owner with a 1989 1LE Camaro
I have an 89 1LE 5 speed heat delete car. Mine is not one of the street versions but a legit race order so there are some subtle differences within the 1LE themselves which yours may or may not have. Let me know what you need and I'm glad to help. I also drove a black (street version) 89 1LE 5.7 directly off the transporter and did new car delivery prep on it way back in 89 so I know what they should be like from the factory. As for the struts, the 89-92 1LE strut is 22064153 non 1LE had multiple numbers depending on Berlinetta / Z28 / engine size options, 89-92 1LE rear shock is 22064149 others used multiple numbers as with struts.

I'm curious whether the camaro came with the normal 34mm front sway bar or the 36mm sway bar. The R7U cars came with a number of things different than 1LE-only cars, but I am not 100% positive. I have seen one 1989 1LE non-players car that had some of the same components from the R7U like the front sway bar and struts, and for certain it was not a players car and still wore it's original stuff.

Yes, that would be me. I'm flying in for the day on 6/14 and should be at his house around noon. He told me all about your car and your name recently came up in conversation with someone else who knows everything there is to know about the Fellows Camaros, so it would be nice to meet you if time permits. I have to physically be with the car at customs in order to get it back into the US since I'm the actual owner (and a US citizen). Jason is taking us with his trailer to Seattle where I'm scheduled to load it on my transporters trailer around 6pm, but I'm sure I'll have a few minutes to spare. The "Players Challenge Owners Club" is small so I'm sure our paths will cross again (eventually) but it would be nice to shake hands so we can say we know each other personally. You can PM or call / text 201-627-4506.
