Cherry's Brand New Interior
Thought I'd share the work we did over the winter to my 83 Z28. This car was amazingly rust free and garage kept. It's mostly original with one repaint on it that we'll probably redo at some point in time. But for now just wanted to fix the interior. The original carpet was supposed to be charcoal but had faded to an ugly brown. The dash was cracked and the headliner had no cloth, but I reckon that's fairly normal for these cars. The car had 55,000 original miles when we bought it and had been garage or carport kept it's entire life. The factory seats were in remarkable shape so at least we didn't have to redo those. Just new carpet, dash, headliner, sail panels, and visors. We also put in a new sound system. Pioneer head unit, speakers, amp and subs!

More pics. Got it gutted. The Easiest part was removing the dash. I would have to say that the biggest PITA was the center console. It was hard to take out, hard to get back in, and because it was carpeted was a pain to redo with the new carpet. Had to buy an extra piece of carpet and cut to fit then glue on.

New dash and headliner. Dash was an easy install. The headliner was a little trickier. After we got the holes cut properly to match the original dome lamp it wasn't too bad. Awkward more than anything. Bought the kit and saved a bit. matching headliner visors and sail panels.

Re: Cherry's Brand New Interior
Well done! Good find and nice replacement work on the interior. Makes me wish i had the time right now to tear into my IROC project like i want to. It also currently has no interior...but it's been that way for some time now. The floor boards need some attention before anything else happens, so we'll see when i can get that taken care of.
Keep up the good work and post more pics as you go.
