New to me 1989 IROC 5.7 tpi, Now for sale (long story)
Hey again! These third gens do something to me. Every time I try to get rid of one, I end up getting another soon after. I really wish I could hold onto one vehicle for longer than 3 years lol. I am 28 and just purchased my 30th vehicle. Anyways I figured I would post up some pics. My intent is just to go stock with it. I have changed a lot in my car hobby; I no longer care to go fast or have crazy amounts of horsepower, I just wanna cruise around and enjoy the piece of machinery.

As of now I am looking to sell to try to recoup what I can to put towards another IROC. I'll try to keep this long story short, but my stomach is in knots typing this. I was particularly looking for an '89 IROC, 5.7 TPI, 16" wheels, T-Tops, etc. Not that easy of a find for me where I live. I found this one 3 hours away. The guy was mostly honest about condition. During the talking on the phone phase I asked if the title was clean and clear and he said it was, so I headed that way. The car wasn't quite up to what he said it was, but I still had no issue purchasing it. The only major issue was that the title never got transferred into his name. Normally I would run from that, but I didn't drag my uncle and papaw 3 hours north to turn around and go home. I got home and went to transfer it. The title was clean, the only problem is that I didn't take Kentucky's "special" paper with me to get signed and notarized. The penalty for that is that you have to pay high book taxes on the car to transfer it instead of the price listed on the title (you would think the title is good enough lol). So I agreed to pay high book and she quoted me $1,000 in taxes on a car that maybe books for $1,500. After regaining consciousness I asked why so high and her reply was that it is a classic car and they have to charge classic car taxes for it. Funny thing was, I bought a '72 SWB c10 for way more than what the IROC was worth and taxes on it was only $72. She refused to let me pay taxes on normal car value, so I took the stupid paper that requires another notarized signature and price to attempt to contact the titles owner and get this worked out. The next day I got put on night shift temporarily and was going to pursue my transfer aspirations as soon as I got back to my normal shift 3 weeks later only to find out my whole folder of documentation for the car was GONE!!! Title, Sheriff's paperwork, receipts and bill of sale was all gone. My wife says she didn't throw it away, but I can put something somewhere and know exactly where it is 10 years later. I have checked my whole property for the documents to continue to come up empty handed. In Kentucky, I have done all I can do to get this car legally in my name and there is nothing further for me to do. I hate to let such a nice car go to waste, but some of you other folks might not have to jump through hoops like we do in Kentucky. Any help even on what to do is much appreciated. I would like to get $1,800 out of it but considering the above I know that is a longshot.
Asking $1,800

What are you going to do about the hole above the sending unit? Other then that it looks to be a solid car.
I also found that my IROC had the Bose system, but the head unit and one of the amps was missing from mine. Decided rewire the entire stereo system, add in the missing dash and sail panel speakers, and have an eight speaker system. My factory Bose speakers are going to be ran off of an amp, while the other four will be off the head unit.

Nice looking IROC! Congrats. You will have to fix that fuel pump access door though!

Thanks guys. In all honesty I just want to get it in daily driving condition. I'm simple and enjoy driving stuff that isn't perfect. Maybe I will fix it up several years from now, if I still have it that is lol.
