Results from PYPES PONTIAC Car Show!

After talking to Chris yesterday (with his 1LE Sunoco Race car) it seemed like it might be a really nice show to go to with a huge amount of Pontiac lovers. It turns out that out of the 75 awards given out in that class, about 90% went to Pontiac's 1970 an older, if you had a GTO (automatic WINNER), and it helped if you were able to park on the asphalt main road with Mustangs on one side and all Pontiac's on the other. If you were back 3 or 4 rows on the grass, not a lot of people. When you go to these events, it's interesting to talk to people who may stop by and ask questions about what mods you may have done or just chat. I think about 6 people took the time to stop and talk, but IF you had an old Pontiac from the 60's, then there was a crowd around that car.
Neither Chris or myself took home any award. When you have PEER judging, it's just a matter of how many friends also show up. There was a group of 6 Pontiac's behind me (from a club) that I know they voted for each others car.
Now it's nice to take home something if you know how much effort went into making it that way (I heard people say Chris's Race Car) was just a cleaned up, home made Firebird with panels that did not fit right. When you spend money for an entrance fee, gas, tolls, motels and food, you hope to enjoy the crowds. Just my rant and

Don't feel bad about it Ed - secretly I sort of giggle to myself every time somebody walks by and DOESN'T know what they are looking at. I go to see friends and have a good time. Wish you had stuck around for the burnouts out back after the show - I'll have video up some time this week.

That is the only show of that kind that I ever take a car to and when there I am almost never next to it. I would rather be hanging out elsewhere with friends or out looking at cars like yours than standing next to mine telling people how I found it or how it came to be. Just how I am - for good or bad.

Personally my award came at the end of the show when a woman with her young son came up to the group of us next to my car and asked who the owner was. When I said it was mine she told me that out of all of the cars at the show, it was her son's favorite and he nodded a strong yes.

AWESOME, that black Buick Grand National REALLY wore down rubber and SMOKE!

Blue Bird sounded very angry and looked better.

Cool video!
Ed, Looks like a Monte Carlo. Anyway, looks like he needs some new gummies!
Chris, Like you said....some people just don't know what they're looking at and don't have a clue. I have had people ask me why I put a Buick V6 in my TTA. I then just give them that look.
