Re: Spring Removal Help ASAP
When I removed my springs I used a jack and propped it up under the A-arm, then loosened the balljoint with the castlenut still in place. Once the balljoint broke free of the spindle I jacked it up a bit to compress the spring more and take the load off the castle nut, then removed it.
This of course means you've already disconnected your sway endlink so the only thing holding your spring on is the jack.
Then I slowly let the jack down.
But, that isn't enough to let the spring go..
Now this is where it gets risky.. I've seen people use a long crowbar, stick it between the coils and pry outward.
My neighbor stood to the side of the car (like by the door) and kicked the a-arm inward until the spring popped out.
Removing the motor mounts looks like a pain. They have nuts on the back and you need the a-arms out to get to those nuts to remove the clam shell.
My car had a v8 tho so it may be in a different spot for v6 mounts.
the a-arms can go 90 degrees from the k-member.
Be careful!! These things can be dangerous.

Haven't done this yet but from my understanding if you haven't compressed the springs and secured the coils you're looking at some very dangerous actions. Do a search on here for the correct way to remove these. I know I've seen it once or twice. Check this out.

you gotta get violent with them... once you drop the arm all the way down, there really isn't a lot holding them in place. a quick jerk with a pry bar and they fall right out.. and, no, they won't go bouncing around the garage because they will dissipate any energy they have stored up by getting caught between the hole in the subframe where the springs pass thru and the lower control arm..

Re: Spring Removal Help ASAP
Or you could just go to a local parts store and rent an internal spring compressor and get this done a lot faster......... if you have to pry the old spring out, how do you plan to get the new spring in???

Well that's one way to do it lol, I guess you replaced them with lowering springs?
