90 iroc 1000Hp rear end
Ok guys so lemme jut get this outa the way yes I said 1000hp to the wheels, yes I know how hard it's gonna be to make a good street car with that many ponies, and yes I know what it's gonna cost ill spare u the details for the length of this post but I have a LS3 engine that iv put 25K into and it's not even in the car yet so yes ik the expenses here I can assure u now I'm at my minds end here and I need help and I chose this thread cause some of the best minds live here so here is my situation the stock rear end in my iroc will literally rip out of it the second I put even half of those ponies to it so therefor I need a new rear end I also know that the stock irocz have a offset in the rear end is also like to do away with that if possible so sense I know very little on this particular subject Ill just leave y'all a general outline of what in lookin for
I need a rear end that'll hold up under at least 1000 horses
I need it to fit under my car without having to cut my frame or any huge amounts of body work like that
I need it to fit fairly large tires on it but not like top fuel dragster big
And I don't plan on keeping the stock rims so i don't know if that matters but just throwing that out there
Oh yes and I can always replace the gearing in it so that doesn't concern so much
And finally PRICE IS NOT A OBSTICLE I knew what I was getting into when I started this I know restomodding isn't cheap
Thanks for your help

Strange S60 dana 60 rear with 40 spline axles
Moser fab 9/M9, ford 9" with 40 spline axles
Detroit Locker would be my pick for the diff.

Re: 90 iroc 1000Hp rear end
I run a 9" and it survives just fine. Of course, the only thing OEM is the actual housing. I run aftermarket axles. I use an Moser aluminum bolt through case and an aluminum Daytona pinion support.
It's not HP but torque that hurts diffs. I run a powerglide so the first gear torque multiplication is low and less likely to cause major damage.
1.76 gear powerglide. 4.86 gears in the diff. 32 x 16 slicks on a 15 x 15 rim.
Since you do not want to cut up the car to stuff a big tire under the fenders, you are going to be really limited to tire size and may suffer traction problems with too much power because of it. Not ever race day has 100% perfect track prep to allow high HP, small tire cars to hook up. My car has been back halved to allow a huge tire. Even on marginal track prep I can still power my way down the track while small tire cars slip and slide.

Re: 90 iroc 1000Hp rear end
Quick Performance ford 9" with Moser 35 or 40 spline axles.
No cutting to put in in my car(I have the 35 spline and I am still using the stock torque arm yet)
I use a Mickey Thompson 275/75/15 drag radial. No rubbing whatsoever.
With a little cutting you could mini-tub to make a 295 fit.

Re: 90 iroc 1000Hp rear end
the S60 is going to be the most bulletproof option, but a built 9" give you almost as much strength with lighter weight and the ability to change gears in a half hour if you have another center section set up.
