Re: 1985 firebird with a 350
Is it a roller engine, is it flat tappet cam, does it have stock heads, carbed or fuel injected? Then we can talk cams. Nice looking car by the way

LOL... Sofa, man you crack me up.. I like your attitude. I feel the same way with a lot of the things I read on the boards and even hear in person.
To the OP... We can't tell you anything until you know what you are dealing with. The SBC has been around since '55 with MANY changes.. You could have a mech. flat tappet, hyd. flat tappet, hyd. roller, or even a mech roller cam.
A cam recommendation needs a lot of info on your use, goals, and parts combo, to get it right.
Need to know compression, cid, bore, stroke, heads... (Brand, casting number, valve size, chamber size, runner size, port flow), induction system, ECU or not, what ECU, trans, converter, rear gear, tire size, weight, etc.

Yep , since they look identical from the outside , and since dishonest sellers know EVERYBODY want's to hear "it's got a 350" , these lies are plentiful whenever these cars are sold . For future reference , the block numbers will tell you what displacement the engine is , and anything else (like the seller's assertions) are simply not to be trusted . Sometimes the seller themselves have been lied to and believe the lie they're passing on , and some know they are lying with the full knowledge that they are ripping someone off (by knowingly misrepresenting what they're selling) .
PS , in my opinion , I wouldn't chase trying to put go fast parts on the 305 , the same work (often for less money) done to a 350 will get you closer to the performance goals you seek .
Speed = Cubic inches X cubic dollars .........

Re: 1985 firebird with a 350
I think for now I will do the valve cover gaskets on the 305 and run the motor in it for a few months (if it runs that long). In the mean time I have a motor sitting back where I am from at my parents house and will drive up there soon to pick it up after a buddy of mine pulls the heads to give it a once over. I will bring that 350 down to Virginia and build it in the garage and stick it in the chicken when its done.
As far as block numbers go I am well aware of this but they were both impossible to see due to obstructions and general grim and debris, but thanks for trying to help out
Going to hope the person wasn't intentionally trying to be a dick lol.
