85 Trans Am 350 TPI Swap
Exterior pictures a few years old. engine swap is fresh, you can tell how much the paint has faded by the top of the fenders(hood roof spoiler are the same now)
305TPI to 350TPI
Engine rebuild, mild cam, headers, intake
stock runners plenum tb and lower intake
hypertech thermomaster chip(made quite a bit of difference vs stock, but mainly for the 170 degree fan override while running stock radiator fan system)
dynomax exhaust with flowtech headers and y pipe, no cat.
700r4 was rebuild with a hardened sun shell, corvette servo, 4L60 sprags, and shift kit.
4 wheel disc with performance suspension and 9 bolt posi out of a 5 speed car.
fun car to drive

Looked good when it was fresh! Mine faded as well. What brand paint? Mine was the Summit Racing brand Single Stage Urethane Flame Red. It comes to life after a good buffing though, but doesn't last long.
Nice square body in the background too, got a 85 K5 Jimmy myself.

both vehicles were my uncles at the time of the pic, i bought the ta about 5 years ago, he painted it two years before that, omni paint but it was sitting in a basement for a few years. truck was painted 15 years ago with omni as well and it didnt start to have problems until the last few years with clear peeling. keep in mind the truck is abused and never waxed or anything.

Looks good. What's the adapter piece you used to go from the throttle body to the aluminum intake piece? I'm looking at custom making a cold air kit for mine and need to figure out what to use to go from oval to round.

I think Spectre's site says their oval to round adapters are for Fords, which is why I asked what you were using. I'll have to check with some of the local shops to see what they carry. Thanks.

i was referring to the round-round adapters. they are easier to find in stock at local stores. if its actually oval-round it will probably be fine.

Sounds almost identical to the build i did on mine several years ago. I had to mothball it for a while but have resurrected the beast. Did you stay with the 305 computer or did you swap in a 350 computer. I have also put in the Hypertech chip

i kept the stock ecu but got the hypertech chip for an 85 corvette. im still having some problems with it running rich after its warmed up but i know my cold start system is not properly working and my egr is not hooked up. im not sure if the egr can cause it. i will eventually take the time to mess with it and find out

Re: 85 Trans Am 350 TPI Swap
I bought the chip before I planned one doing the build. I didn't think to look into a Corvette chip, I figured I would have to learn how to burn my own chips. Mine runs horribly rich too. Another question - did you switch the knock sensors for 350 sensors. I have seen articles that say they ping at different freq's and I tell you, I can get some vicious pinging going on

Re: 85 Trans Am 350 TPI Swap
i know 20 people are going to attempt to call me out. the simple fact is BWD has the same part number for 305 and 350 TPI cars.
