VSS help

I'm not sure where to start searching for this, but I'm putting a 97 blazer overhead console in my 82 and need to have a VSS to run wire to. Problem is I have a th350 with no computer for car... How would I make this work?

Re: VSS help

if original VSS behind the speedo is not operable, could add a 2nd VSS at the speedo cable fitting on tranny(or cruise control if equipped)'82-89 camaro VSS is 2-pulse per rotation, most later GM 4 pulse/rotation,so likely need 4-pulse to properly operate '97 blazer console

I saw something for like $50 that went in the transmission and had a speedo cable in and out which had a converter in the middle with 8000 rpm pulse or something? I'll see if I can find link

Would this work to wire to VSS wire for console??

Re: VSS help

The speedo mounted VSS is optical. Tap into that and use a conversion box. You'll need some kind of conversion since the blazer VSS signal for console more than likely isn't 8008ppm. Read everything jagsthatrun has on their site and books while you're at it.

Problem is I'm not sure I have that VSS behind speedo anymore. Anyone have a pic just to make sure? I believe its a black box but it's been a couple of years.. I saw it on a 92'. I need to pull gauges to make sure but I think they deleted mine with carb swap (think they were attempting to make a dirt track car?) so I guess I'm looking into how to add one. If anyone has a picture though that would be great to make sure I'm looking at the right thing.
