Have you read any of the "stickies" at the top of the page yet?

Re: lt1 t56
Look at ones with "T-56" in the title.
There's a "sticky" on this forum, and there's a thread on the FAQ forum as well. A search of this forum for "T-56" in the title will turn up dozens more.

Re: lt1 t56
I have a 1995 F-body T56 behind a 1986 L69 305.
Regarding the transmission side of the engine, everything is the same on 1986-2003 production Gen I small blocks AND Gen II LT1 / LT4. There's nothing different.
However, the 94-02 F-body ratios are a poor match for a 305.
Read the Sticky (it covers the 93-97 T56 into third-gen from virtually all angles) and check back in this thread or hit me up if you need anything.

Re: lt1 t56
thanks jmd. looks like i basically need everything i would for a ls1 t56, but itll bolt to my 305. and ya i bet they are poor ratios but i need a new trans, but on the bright side my rear end is 3.08 ratio... for some reason.

You will HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE tha tgear with a T-56. Compared to a T-5, just swapping a T-56 in there will feel like you are taking off in 3rd gear. LITERALLY. Go take off in 3rd acoupla times to get the feel of it.
I just have the weeeeeeeenie stock gears in my car, 3.73s; and with the T-56, it feels like it REALLY could use some more gear. Maybe not ALOT more, but definitely, more. 4.10s maybe, 4.56 would prolly be too much. I can't begin to even imagine what a bummer 3.08s would be. Prolly tempt me to open my veins on the spot. Or put some real gears in. One of the two.
