need help with my 3.1 v6 to figure out what is wrong
i just got my old 3.1 v6 running the other day that has been sitting around for like 1 year and 1/2 of one. it ran great when we first got it in 1998 but now it needs something done to it to make it run write again. The only reason it would not crank up before was cause of a fuel filter gone bad. that sucks to find that out after it set there for so long. anyways when i take it out on the road if i mash the gas all the way down it does not go into over drive that strong. It is very weak going into it. It is like the power curve has went from 140 horses to 50 horses if you know what i mean. I messed with the throttle cable a little bit and it picked up a little bit but it is still aweful compared to what this little 3.1 used to be able to do. did i mention that the exhaust is missing right after the catalystic converter and the cat is gutted......could this play a role in anything with no back pressure and make the computer act funny. It started doing this when the exhaust started to go bad. Can yall plz help me out on this one though?

i am having a dynomax super turbo muffler put on it thursday at 3:30 so that might help the problem some. I dunno what is wrong with it though. It is idling around 1100 rpm's when i have it in drive and it shifts at about 4500 into second and third gears. It this normal cause i cant remember its been so long ago i drove this car and now im trying to fix it to normal again.

Go to the tranny section, here on the forum and ask for TransGo Leo & Pro Built Auto.
These guys know the score.
I would really suggest, wait to do the tranny, until you get the car running smoother.
IF it moves ok, get the engine done first.
Take it easy on the tranny.
ALL I CAN SAY, DO NOT CHANGE THE FLUID, you may loose the tranny that way.
I know, I did.
