3rd gen LT's for my LS1 by me!! :)

Hey guys, just thought I would post some pics of the new headers I made for the LS1. Took a set of Hooker 3rd gen Long Tubes and repositioned the primaries on some LS1 flanges purchased from GM Performance parts. Turned out real nice. Gotta ship em off for some ceramic coating. If anyone is interested in a pair I could make you a set. Thanks guys, hope to hear some opinions.

Midlengths??? I tried a set on my car and no-go. If you have a tubular K-member they MIGHT fit. Not positive. Thanks alot guys, Hawks was supposed to be coming out with a 3rd gen LT for the LS1 in august, then they told me first of the year at a price of $700!!!!!!!! I was like um no thanks I'll try my hand at my own lol. Expecting high to mid 10's out of the car when it's back on the streets.

Those look pretty good. I would make a jig for those. As many LS1 swaps as I see your PM box will be pretty full.

They hit the K-member, the front primary comes down too far. Goes down then back at an angle and slaps the K-member. At least my set did lol. Thanks guys. I would set up a jig but don't have the resources at the moment to do so. Handcraftmanship is how I make most of my stuff lol.

sry to beat ur topic down but ur probably the only one thats tried this.. and i desperatly need these headers to work

I take it thats the passenger side just lookin at the header now? Was it just rubbin or majorly over the k-member

The drivers side was my biggest problem. The k-member is in a different position on the 4th gens. It wouldn't even get close enough to line up on the head. Give it a shot and if your going to go tubular you might be ok. Let me know how it works out for you

Those are nice... I was thinking about doing the same thing I've already got some lasercut stainless LS1 header flanges sitting here.... did you buy the hooker SC's or what? Let me know... also, how much for a set?

Thanks!

I'm also doing a H/C LS1/T56 swap into my GTA and hoping for low 11's or better on the motor....

I'm going to have a go at this myself, but it sounds like the best game in town right now. I think the Hooker Super Comps part # 2210 are gonna be the right ones , 1 3/4 inch primary , I was also informed by someone on another website to use the Corvette heated 02s because of the difference in distance to the engine in the location of the 02 in the stock manifold vs. the longtube header. One other thing will be if you want to use the EGR in the LS1 , you'll have to weld on tubes with a fitting for the EGR tubes to connect. You can get a LS6 intake (Corvette) with no EGR to get around this. A program , like HP Tuners, can eliminate the EGR from the PCM .

That was me. But you need to use the Vette REAR O2's for the fronts in your LT's. They like the cooler exhaust gases better, dont ask me why exactly, this is just what I've read on LS1tech.com numerous times before.

Good luck guys, and if anyone wants me to test out a pair then just send them my way.

for the rest you are not signed to ls1 tech here is the header/o2 talk:

http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=252130

RamAirZ the pics show a 6speed ? Far more work on a automatic like the 4LE
cause its so damm wide!As a 4LE transmission will not keep up to a 10.0 sec car the cheapo way is to run a slim 350th behind the ls1 !On a stock Ls1 swap the 4Le is a must due to the electronic modding and fuel needs.A race 4LE are in the price stratosphere..........

RamAirZ the LS1 header hight line is pretty low in a third gen compared to stock you must have cut out lots of stock hooker pipe meat that those headers are not touching the ground!

The S&P engine mounts are they a fine fit? Read a thread where the guy was pi---zzed cause they fit real bad!
Guess now lots of people get the point of not getting a "special" Ls1 kember cause you cant swap back in case of a ls1 engine sale!

MrDude_1 is one of those double thinkers---LOL!

Well as said before a LT header would be nice from the pros like hooker or whatever but i never saw so much price pushing than with the ls1 engine!

badjuju342,StngKlr,MrDude_1 , RamAirZ watch my words when we the "Backyard boys" are finish with modding and getting a good header made the pros will come in and eat the CAKE!
The front brake topic is a good example!

Nice post. I have the fix for the 4L60E, the drivers side header on my car is almost against the frame rail, it is a little off to keep from hitting the brake/fuel lines and I wrapped them in heat wrap. It will clear the 4L60E no problem and the passenger side will be the same. I love my S&P mounts. I had to reloacte my stock motor mounts back about a 1.25 inches to make everything line up perfectly (put the motor in without moving and it LOOKED fine, slapped the tranny on and it angled up into the car). I didn't cut alot of meat out of the headers, they sit pretty good in the car to begin with, but I did make sure ground clearance would be good. Ya I'm tired of waiting on the "big boys" to make this crap for our cars so I'm doing it myself lol.

Ram air hahahah cool!
The idea to start from scratch came when we looked at our selfmade LT for the 1gen sbc they dont hang that low like the hookers but too low for our taste!
Taking lots of pipe meat out ---??
Yeah the ls1 cylinderhead exhaust "line" is lower than on a stock tpi motor or am i wrong????

check the pics!
as your mail came in i was on the special "exhaust" pic programm looking at hawks LT and TPI LT hookers!
Hawks LTs are using all the space to get the most put i would love to see a pic of his like the hookers im posting!

Didnt get the cat guys on the phone but tell me what you thing of the race kat!

i dont understand hooker they could step in with their big azz maschine park and offer a set up ...lots of people in the background are waiting cause they want a whole "ls1 kit"!

700 $ for a set ???? I would love to see US prices for stainless tube.....

Race cat ...we need to stuff them behind the med or LT!
The high goal is a equal long header!
The fuel/brake line stuff down there make me mad everytime i see them !
worth on a manual car when the slave---master line is another boiling point...!
