OFFICIAL Houston Summer Meet Food Thread

Alrighty folks, it's getting time to gear up for the summer Meet, Eat, and Compete gathering. We're only a couple of weeks away now and we need to get some food plans lined out.

As we've discussed in the other threads, many of us at the meet will be partaking in a crawfish boil. Obviously not everyone will eat crawfish so we will also be having hotdogs and chips for everyone else.

According to the Headcount thread, we've got 14 cars and 23 people coming, of which 11 people have said they'd go for the crawfish. I'm thinking about 30 lbs will be more than enough, as well as a couple of potatoes and an ear of corn for each person. My dad has the stuff to boil the crawfish in so that won't be a problem.

What we still need is:

-Drinks (preferrably mostly water, its going to be hot)
-Chips
-Dessert of some kind (cookies or brownies would be great)

As we get the things we need I'll modify the list to show what else is still needed.

On another note, it's going to be HOT at the meet, especially during the time of day we're having it. The Pavilion we are planning to have the meet at is unfortunately first-come-first-serve, so we'll be rolling the dice as to whether or not it is available. If the pavilion is full, we will head down the dike to the beach and have it out there. The problem is there is no shade whatsoever out there. What I'm asking is if anyone has a canopy that we can setup for shade, please bring it just in case. If you are worried about having a lot of stuff in your car at the track, don't be as my parents will be taking our truck to put any large things in. I've got one canopy that is pretty decent size that provides a little shade, but we've still gotten sun burned beneath it before. So just keep in mind the sun and heat while we're out there and drink plenty of water and we'll all have a good time.

Thanks, and see y'all there.
Tristan

Not familiar enough with that area--maybe Wheelspin or one of the otherguys that lives down there can!

I do remember passing a few, but wasn't paying attention.

I found these on Yahoo Travel

Of those listed, I would definitely suggest Fairfield Inn, I stayed in 2 the past weekend and they were both very nice.

I just sent him a PM a little while ago, haven't heard back, and I asked if he was cool with us taking up a collection.

I personally would rather pay a little more and get some from the seafood market at the Kemah bridge (I assume that is the one U are talking about) than NOT have the crawfish boil. I have really been looking forward to it!

BUT.......if it ain't gonna happen......it ain't gonna happen!

But I'm sure we can MAKE IT HAPPEN!!! We are thirdgenners, not fourthgenners!
