NGK plugs

Hey, I am needing some plugs and wires for my v6. I just came upon this Ngk brand...Does anyone know anything about it??? The ones I saw were about $9 apiece, pretty high. Also the wires.....what is the brand that works the best aka daily driver? I can afford the ngk but I was looking more at AC Delco before I came upon this.

the delcos will be fine for you, save the money on the NGKs. we used to use them on our 14:1 compression spitfire race car but switched to denso. they worked fine but delcos are all you need.

If you are concerned about holding the gap on your plugs for a long time, use the Bosch Platinums. They are an excellent plug in that respect, generally lasting a good two years of daily driving before requiring regapping. Plus they burn so nice and hot that they just don't foul. And they are about the same price as the ACs.

Ok, thanks guys. I did have bosh platinum +4's on my pos ford a while back, couldn't tell a difference but then again it was a ....
I think I will go with the platinums, just a little more in price but it sounds like it is worth it.

NGK sells different types of plugs in different price ranges. I use their V-Power spark plugs that cost about the same as AC Delco plugs. I'm happy with them, nothing special, but they seem to be good plugs.

Where I work, they're all about 3 times as much.

The cheaper plugs work just fine. I use AC's, but Champion copper's work well, copper's a better conductor than platinum.

I have had nothing but trouble with Bosch Platnim. After about 15,000 miles the platnum peice falls out and the car misses.

I like and use NGK plugs in my Japanese-made cars. I also like and use AC's in my Chevy's.

I used to use Champions (If they're good enough for Kenny Roberts, they're good enough for me!), but I feel their heat ranges cover too broad a range. For instance, NGK will list 4 or 5 different plugs for a given range, while Champion lists only one plug. I noticed this when Champion introduced the copper core years ago.

you might want to give autolite plugs a try, I run their racing plugs in my camaro. NGK plugs are good plugs as well.

I picked up 4 packs for $28 bucks from where I work. When I tossed the Bosch's and picked up some AC's they were $13 for 4 packs.

That's with GST and PST. (14%)

I had a bad experiance with them too. I put in the ones recommended for my car and it started to have real power problems after only 500 miles. Took them out and all 8 were fouled. Put AC's back in and never had another problem.

Well then, they are only twice the price, eh?

They are a very nice plug that will hold their gap longer than the ACs and won't foul as easy, either.

But if you prefer the ACs, that solves it, doesn't it? I just like the idea of not having to pull the plugs to re-gap them every year.

Stay completely away from EVERY platinum plug if you are running any kind of nitrous system. I can't remember the exact nature of the problem but they will not be happy with each other.

Plus, make sure the gap is at least .035. Any closer and they probably will foul. With a good coil, they should be good for a .045 gap.

I read on another board that this happens with engines that run DIS systems, one firing cycle the plugs fire with forward voltage (center electrode to ground elctrode) and the next firing cycle they fire reverse voltage (ground electrode to center electrode).

There were also pics posted of the fine center electrode that pulled away from the insulator and bridging the gap.

I'll post the url if I happen to come across it again. It was either an Oldsmobile or a Z34 site....

Here are the prices for plugs arround here.

price listed as each

Bosch platinum $1.99
Bosch platinum +4 $4.99
Ac delco $1.49
Champian $1.09
Autolite $1.09
NGK v-power $1.99

You were probably looking at the NGK iuridium plugs they have a stiff price. The NGK v-power are great plugs I have been running them for a while now in my cars and they work great as a matter of fact I bought a set to go in my new formula yesterday.

I just bought the NGK's v-power. Number UR4 6630. They were about 1.59 a plug. Are they good plugs, and a good price? Also will they work good in my 305TBI? I also bought a set of heavy duty v-power plugs for my Nova. 350. Was there a better choice?
