Mellon cams?
Anyone ever heard of this brand? They make cams and a few other things. Are they any good.
Theres a local company around here selling 383 shortblocks with this brand cam and most of the other parts are Federal for about 1K. Is this a good deal?

i have heard of the name several times but i have no idea on how good they r or nothin...sorry man. if u find out anything i would like to know.....im planning on building a 383 this year!

They actually showed me an assembled shortblock. The machine work was very clean. They said that they just started doing performance engines due to the demand people like me have for them.
They claimed that a guy installed that engine into a Chevelle and with aluminum heads and a holley commander 950 FI kit he made over 500HP/550TQ. Does this seem possible? Sorry they didn't specify what the heads were. As the customer bought the heads himself from somewhere.
I know I couldn't expect HP like that out of an LTR setup. But could I get close with a HSR SuperRam or Mini-Ram?

That is a very stout 383, it has to have a big cam and some damn good heads to get kind of power out of it.
