Its about a 150 buck differance, both are 64cc chambers, 575 max lift and 200cc runners.. leaning towards brodix mainly cause of name brand... going on a carbed 355, 670 avenger carb, LT's, rpm airgap manifold, 1.6 magnum rollers, 420/442 lift 262/272 duration cam.. currently have 882 casting heads.. Any advice?? possibly gonna do new cam while the heads are being replaced voodoo 525/546 and 241/249 still up in te air.. Thanks

69charger,

I wouldn't skimp out on your car. More than likely summit outsources this head from probably the same manu or someone who does something similar. If it was mine I would get the brodix. But in the end its up to you. Enjoy your build.

Make sure you get that voodoo cam, or something equally large, 200cc heads on a 350 is a lot of head (err...), so it'll need a bunch of cam to keep up.
Then the carb will need to be replaced down the road too.

Re: Brodix or summit 200's

Would 180's be a better choice just incase I dont go with the cam? Would the 200's take away from my low end torque?

Yes and yes.
180's would be a good setup, then you can go a step down on that cam, and have a more drivable fun car.

I agree with Sonix,
180 intake will help retain your usable low end torque. This is more applicable for a daily driver and help you get some better gas mileage depending on how heavy your right foot is.

Re: Brodix or summit 200's

The question to ask is what head does Summitracing sell. If you do a search you can see nothing that summitracing sells is cheap but rather another companies product rebadged with the summitracing logo. I believe a couple guys in the past bought the summitracing 200 cc heads and actually received
Brodix IK heads. Now the thing is your getting the same head for less money. Now there is no guarantee what you will get because I have seen them change the products around between various manufactures. But the one thing you can bet is they will sell you something quality.

Re: Brodix or summit 200's

Usually the summit/jegs units are Canfield, sometimes Brodix. That largely depends on who gives them the best deal at a large qty buy of heads w/ their name etched on.

Yes, 180's would be a better choice. - If you change cams then I would go to the intended size and step back to 1.5 rockers. Although the 1.6's help when a cam is too small, they take an already bad valvetrain leverage point and make it worse. A cam somewhere around 500-525 lift with duration around 215-220 @ .050 is a good size for a decent headed street 355. I tend to stay below 540 lift with a daily driven street car. Those big cams may make more power, but street cars spend a lot more time below the peak than racing.
