I cut away my old rusted factory exhaust on jack stands. The above thread suggested that you could install the new intermediate pipe by jacking the rear of the car on the frame rails to let the suspension hang and unbolt the upper tie rod for clearance as in below photo:
Maybe my jack stands just weren't big enough, but there is no way in hell I could have snaked the new pipe over the rear axle without a lift.
I rented a lift at Stew's Garage in Kirkland, WA (HIGHLY recommend this place if you're in the area Stew is a chiller). Took me about 30 -45 minutes to get everything in. I removed the entire upper tie rod as just unbolting it didn't give me enough clearance.
Also be aware that the left tailpipe hanger either needs to be tapped to accept the stock bolt or you'll have to supply a smaller bolt on your own. The right tailpipe does not come with a replacement hanger, as the stock had one welded on. I bought a cheap universal hangar from NAPA for about $10 as a stop gap. I plan on eventually installing a better exhaust so I wasn't concerned if it looks a little janky for now.
