Dyno Don headers and 4in Mufflex

I thought I would post my exhaust setup here. I know not everyone cruises the readers section.

I had bought a set of 1 3/4 SLP headers a long time ago to put on my 406. I also ended up buying a set of AFR eliminator 195 heads a few months ago. I found the ports on the SLP's were smaller than the exhaust ports on the AFRs.

I sold the SLP's and bought Dyno Don's 1 3/4 headers with an almost complete y pipe.

I have a deep moroso pan that will let me use a "stock" style y pipe.

Here are some pic's comparing the two.

Re: Dyno Don headers and 4in Mufflex

Headers on the car:

Dyno Don headers do not hit the steering shaft the way the SLP's sometime do.

The plug access is great. You also don't have do dent any tubes to clear spark plug boots.

I finally took the car to the exhaust shop yesterday. I had bought a used 4 inch Mufflex system off a board member a while back. This thing is huge. The guy that did my exhaust did a awesome job.

Re: Dyno Don headers and 4in Mufflex

Y pipe:

The y pipe is 2 1/2 into a merge. The merge is 4in O.D. and the Mufflex pipe is 4in I.D. so the two slide together. I hope this creates a scavenging effect and not turbulence.

Mufflex:

The ground clearance is really good. The car is lowered with Summit springs(pro kit) and I can fit a soda can under the lowest point. I will try to get pics of that soon.

I am very happy with the hole system. The headers fit great. The y pipe is awesome and so is the Mufflex. My exhaust guy beat the rear seat up little bit so he could tuck the pipe closer to the body. He said where it went over the axle there were a few problems but he fixed them, with a hammer I would imagine.

I hope to have the car running Sunday. I will get sound clips as soon as I can.

Re: Dyno Don headers and 4in Mufflex

Looking good and thanks for posting the pictures. I see the tubular K member gives you more clearance for the exhaust by the oil pan. That might help me with a custom exhaust I'm thinking about. I have almost the same setup but into a 3 1/2" Mufflex system.

Nice setup, wish Dyno Don would have sent out out the headers he made for me but was to **** to sit in line at the post office cause he was scared of the extra paper work involved to ship across the border

Anyways do you have pic's of the the exhaust ports on Don's headers, like to see how they compare to my Stainless works 1 3/4 LT's?

You're not very nice.
I'm not in the shipping business, I have a backlog of work to do and others that are waiting in line.

Others have made arrangements to get theirs shipped statewide which I have done.

Hey, Dyno Don!

I don't know you or your products. This post is the first I've heard of you!!

I have a sert of the SLP 1 3/4" headers like the original poster had. I paid to have a y pipe made, and its crappy 2.25" tubing and its semi kinked. Its a total bottleneck.

Will your Y Pipe work with my headers? My car is lowered. Will it work? Can you PM me some details and pricing etc?

Hello Don, i was wondering if you offer a stepped/Merge collector style header ? 1-5/8 to 1-3/4 with merge-collectors... if so what thickness flanges do you use and what would they cost ??? Nice work by the way.

I live within 10 miles of Dyno Don's shop. For that money I will stand in line at the post office and ship them to you. Contact Don. I know why he does not want to stand in line at the post office as he is a very busy man.

You can get one from mufflex's website or try to find one used like I did. The catback is around $650 or so. I got one used for around $200.

Demon355,

Thank you for the compliment. Here's a link to my thread on the build of my car.

LilJayV10 you get any rattles from your 4" mufflex? I might pick up one for myself.

dyno don, you planning on any longtubes in the near future? right now it's lookin' like doug's headers are the way to go with longtubes...also, where do you get those badass looking headers gaskets?

Here's a link to the header gaskets.

http://store.summitracing.com/partde...0&autoview=sku

If he made long tubes and tucked them up, I'd probably try them too.

I had the Hooker LT's before and they hang low, especially on a lowered car.

I have enough trouble keeping up with these.

He builds these because SLP stopped making theirs. You can still buy longtubes out there so there is no need for him to make some more.

The header gaskets are from Earl's.

there's still a bunch of other shortie headers being made, slp wasn't the only game in town...that seems like kind of a silly reason to build headers. guess i'll be going with doug's...the hedmans are going to be a restriction at some point...

The main reason was because of the poor design of the SLP's.
We needed a better header with 2 1/2" outlets.
So they wouldn't hit the steering, among other things.

...and clear they spark plugs especially on the new heads comming out such as the AFR Eliminators. Also ample port opening so as not to cover up the exhaust port in the head.

Re: Dyno Don headers and 4in Mufflex

for my setup would a 3.5 inch mufflex be to small or should I go with a 4 inch. My problem is that I love the dual setup out back. My other problem is with the sfc and the exhaust. There is no clearance above the subframe connectors. I don't know what to do. Any advice would be great
. Right now I have a 3 inch edelbrock catback with dyno dons 1 3/4 with the 2.5 y pipe, and I don't want to go with LT,
