Wheel Collision Center -Bath PA

I brought my Turbocast rims to these guys to repaint and polish the lips. What they did was nothing less than pathetic. One of the rims had a gouge in the lip, which needed to be filled with aluminum. Instead, they tried to cut the blemish out on a lathe, ruining the design. They told me they would find a replacement, but as of yet, have found nothing. I found a few replacements in the 250 to 300 dollar range and the response I got was that they were not willing to spend more on a rim then I paid them to refinish it. That makes absolutely no sense to me. Needless to say, I am disputing the credit card charges. I will let you know if the company does the right thing, but at this point, I would recommend that nobody trusts your wheels with this company. They charge top dollar and the work is inferior, and they are not making this situation right. STAY AWAY!
This is what they did-

Re: Wheel Collision Center -Bath PA

I can see the difference and you are right they should have added aluminum and then machined back to original. Make sure that the dispute is completely accurate and even reverify that they recorded everything right for it. Make sure that it says refinishing your wheels. I would provide any paperwork that would say they add the aluminum and then machine back to factory specs. Advertisements anything.
I just went through it with a company called Car ID. I eventually got my parts but found out the people filed the dispute as received no parts not some as I said. Different process with the dispute then.
Beware that if you do win, I think you should, that you would probably only get back what you paid for the refinishing on that one wheel. But as the wheel was yours to begin with you would still keep that wheel which I would keep for a spare.

If they don't find a replacement rim and I have to settle it through the credit card companies, I think that their reputation is going to suffer a bit. I found them online by reading posts like this. It is in their best interest to find and refinish a rim for me, because I plan on using the internet to inform as many people so others don't wind up in this predicament.

Re: Wheel Collision Center -Bath PA

It is in their best interests to resolve this as if need be you could take them to court and sue for the cost of another wheel and refinishing that one and court costs etc. You lose the time from work as most times that is not allowed.
Also as you said you can post in any number of places to get the word out that they do poor work and destroyed one of your wheels and refuse to replace it. I am sure that you could find a dozen places to list them on the internet. I would check to see if they are listed with the better business bureau also. It may not mean much but if they are they will want to try to keep in good standings with them.
Here the BBB has always managed to help me. Three times complaining and three times got the results I wanted.

Re: Wheel Collision Center -Bath PA

I already put in a BBB complaint. I intend to be a thorn in their side until they resolve the matter. I am just kind of surprised that they are just so unwilling to make the situation right.

I agree totally. Even though the BBB can not compel them to do anything it is still a good place to start checking a company out. And like you I was a thorn in the side of the company when I had my problems and it was that thorn that finally got me my parts.
I have been able to use that thorn in the side as a way to get let out of a contract recently also.

Just an update - I spoke with the owner yesterday, and he seems to want to do the right thing and find a replacement. We will see...

They did my IROC wheels very nicely. You can see them on the Body thread "Finally painting my IROC".

I am hoping that they make the situation right, because the rest of the rims came out OK. The problem with that company is that they have an arrogant salesman named Kevin who does not know how to handle problems and deal with people. The owner seems to be more willing to fix the problem.
The moral of the story is if they had taken the time to fix the damaged area properly, they would not have ruined the rim. But if you make a mistake like that you have to replace the rim, and expect to pay whatever it cost to replace it.
It just might make others think twice about trusting them with rare rims that are hard to replace.

I am hoping that the owner is more willing to spend the money for another wheel then that salesman was. At least nobody can't say it wasn't taken to the top. You are obviously talking to someone (the owner) who can do something if he chooses to. He should because he should understand about word of mouth advertising, good or bad.

Was this ever resolved? I have more wheels I want redone. I won't patronize them if they treat customers like that.

Re: Wheel Collision Center -Bath PA

Well - as you know these rims are tough to come by. They exhausted all their leads rather quickly and found out how rare these rims are. It was left in my hands to find a replacement. I finally found a rim, and they are a little scared to machine the edge because the metal on the edge of these rims is thin. I need to take a ride out there to see the rim next week to see if they have a valid point, as I bought it and shipped it directly to them. I saw pictures of the rim before I bought it and after it shipped to them and I say there is plenty of metal to machine them. I have been dealing with the owner, Daryl Robbins, who is more willing to try and figure out a solution then the original salesperson - Kevin, who is kind of a knucklehead. I will definitely let you know what the resolution is, whether it is good or bad. One solution I thought of is to have them redo the rims and just paint them goldwing metallic without the machined edge. But to me that is a major disappointment, as the 3 rims that they didn't screw up look awesome. The machined edge definitely dresses up the rim. I think that the rim I sent them has enough metal to machine it, but they are scared of possibly ruining another rim. The original rim was ruined because they tried to cut out a defect on the lathe. I have looked at too many pictures of these rims, both new and old, and they are all about the same thickness on the rim. To machine it, they paint it, and then cut the edge on a lathe. They only need to take off a few thousandths of an inch. Since I laid out the money for the rim, we need to find a resolution how I am going to be reimbursed.
But as soon as this is resolved, I will post here. I doubt that answers your question, but it may take a week or 2 to resolve this.

Re: Wheel Collision Center -Bath PA

Just an update - I have to go next week to pick up the rim they refinished for me. It took awhile to find a replacement, and I wound up buying an extra set of rims but hopefully this one came out good. I will let you know when I pick it up. I may have a set of 15x7 turbocast rims I will be selling shortly. They are getting media blasted and are in great shape. But if I don't get my price I am going to hold them as spares.

Re: Wheel Collision Center -Bath PA

Just an update - I went to pick up the replacement rim, and have them mounted and balanced, and they look awesome! I had to find the replacement rim, but in the end, I worked it out with the owner as far as costs of the replacement and labor. I will post up pics of the mounted rim, but in the end, I can recommend Wheel Collision Center. But if you call and Kevin answers, ask for someone else to help you.
