Thumbs up to Hawks Third Gen!

Sorry for the long post; I like to give companies the positive feedback they deserve.

Short Verion
TWO THUMBS UP FOR HAWKS THIRD GEN - DO NOT HESITATE TO BUY HERE. GREAT COMPANY.

Long version

No surprise based on the feedback I read on here, I had a great first experience with Hawks recently. Ordered a set of NOS seat belts for my 83 Z28, and the entire process was easy. Emailed their customer service to get a shipping quote (I'm in Canada) and to ask if they could ship via USPS as opposed to UPS to save the silly brokerage fees us Canadians usually get dinged with when using UPS for US/CAN shipping. The nice lady who got back to me (Melissa) gave me a fair shipping quote, and had no problem with my shipping company request. Already off to a good start!

Ordered everything on a Saturday night, and by 9:00am Monday morning I got an email with a tracking number. It took 10 business days to get here (shipping on a Monday and arrived late Friday afternoon two weeks later), which I consider very good for cross border shipping. I buy crap all the time and I usually expect things in 3 weeks. Yet again, this is going great!

The products I received were fantastic. The upper recoils on both my LH and RH were busted, so I didn't really want to try my luck with another used set. I thought the price they were asking were fair ($129.99 each), a little on the high side, but the way I see it I don't mind paying extra for a company with great/real customer service, and especially a comapny that supports a community I frequent very often.

All in all, a great first experience, and I will definately be a repeat customer!

Thanks Hawks Third Gen Parts!

Wish I could say the same thing about them. I bought an aero-wing spoiler over 2 weeks ago and now they won't respond to emails regarding shipment tracking. They quoted a shipping price and then went 20% higher. Their customer service, IMO, is seriously flawed. Have opened an eBay case on the transaction, but reading feedback from others, it sounds like they just ignore cases.

I agree. They were awesome back in 06-07 when I built my first car. Seems now they could care less.

Dan, first I would like to say we have an open phone line M-F 9am-5pm est you can call to reach us regarding this. Second, your order shipped today. Steven said he received the message on the 18th and he responded on the 19th letting you know about the delay with our fiberglass shop. I will email you separate with the tracking number. As far as the shipping, we have the original message the quote was for $119.58. And Steven said the $100.00 he offered for the shipping to you was correct and you agreed on us sending you two shifter plate overlays because of the mix up. Sorry for the inconvenience. If there is anything I can help you with in the future, call me or Steven personally and we will help you out on any other parts you need.

Thanks,
BJ Hawkins

Please contact me directly if you have any issues whatsoever. I will do my best to get it resolved to your satisfaction. I may not be able to speak to these individual scenarios, but that is not typical.

I hope to change your minds as to how you view Hawks.

Thanks,
Heather

Why? They are over priced and customer service has gone to crap since 06-07 like I stated. I actually called stainless works to see if I could order the lsx headers from them instead of hawks but like I thought, you must order through hawks.

Hawks used to be my favorite but their customer service and ludicrous prices drove me away. There is only one way I would go back to hawks but they wouldn't honor it. I will discuss it with Hawks, but I do not want to bring it out in the open as it is old news.

I think they do a lot for us third gen people dont get me wrong, Im just done with them.

Re: Thumbs up to Hawks Third Gen!

I've bought a number of items from Hawk's in the last year or so. Only had a few issues with some orders, but they straightened out the problems with 1 phone call. They were a little slow to respond to some of my emails, but in my dealings with them their customer service is as good if not better than other online retailers that I deal with.

Good for you lonestar. This is my 1st purchase from them and I am withholding further judgement until the spoiler arrives.

After waiting 8 days for an answer on shipping, I opened an eBay case and emailed at the same time. No answer on the 18th. I came across this thread and added my 2 cents worth at the time. Hawks responded on the 19th (but didn't respond to the eBay case, curiously, until today). I got two emails from them and a reply to this thread today, the 23rd. Apparently I have their attention now. No, I didn't pick up the phone and call, which I probably should have. Work is busy, but I could have taken the couple minutes to call. I thought it would be quicker to email though, so I chose that route. So now I have tracking information, and hopefully the right items on the way. Although, the 2nd email I got today from them made me freak a little. They said my 4th gen spoiler had shipped! I was thinking WTF?!! I checked the eBay purchase and it says, "4th Gen-Style", so I'm assuming that's what they meant, not an actual 4th gen wraparound spoiler, seeing as how they are 3rdgen guys (I think!)

To those complaining about the prices, I say, if the person is willing to pay the price asked, then that's a fair deal. If you don't agree with the price, don't pay. I can't seem to find an intact 3rd gen aero-wing spoiler anywhere near me, so I was willing to pony up $399 + $100 shipping for one from Hawks. If I could have found a decent one closer to me at a lower price, for sure I would have gone that route. Unfortunately, they are really hard to come by, so Hawks' price must be the market price.

Re: Thumbs up to Hawks Third Gen!

Update. Spoiler arrived this afternoon and all is good (although the installation instructions reference some alignment tabs that don't appear to be included with the shipment.) Spoiler looks decent, came with a 3rd brake light, mounting hardware, instructions, and the decals they promised (separate negotiation). Purchase date: 04 April. Delivery date: 25 April. 20 days elapsed. Ad says most orders ship the next day. Hawks did email me last week saying their fiberglass shop was behind. I would have liked to know that information at the time of purchase, as I was trying to time getting the car painted with delivery of the spoiler. Anyways, all is good now, and my opinion of Hawks has improved some. Good parts, but don't expect them to be too responsive to email. I recall inquiring about other items of theirs in the past, but never received responses, which is why I never bought from them in the past. Their loss, if they can't respond to an email (I realize they probably get dozen, maybe hundreds, daily. Hey, it's a business after all.) Would I buy from them in the future? Depends on whether or not someone else has the item I'm looking for. If I can find it elsewhere, then I most likely wouldn't buy from them, mainly due to their unresponsiveness.

Hi Dan,
I am glad you got all of your parts as promised, also thank you for making a partially positive response as well. In the future we would love to have your business on other items you may need. please keep in mind the time of year it is and we get 3-400 emails a day not including the 100-150 off of eBay alone which I believe is where you first purchased the spoiler. You will get the best INSTANT response you are looking for from us via phone as we simply cannot answer every email, phone call, and current customer order shipment over potential customer every day so we do prioritize that the orders go out first phone answered second and emails as fast as humanly possible, so the phone call is the best and fastest response for you. Please keep in mind I am not trying to make excuses just trying for everyone to understand we DO WANT YOUR BUSINESS and TRY VERY HARD to make you happy and hope we can make you a continued customer in the near future.
Sincerely,
Bruce Hawkins
