Car: 02 redfire gtp coupe
Engine: 3.8 modded and supercharged
Transmission: 4t65-ehd
anyone make thier own efi?
i keep thinking about tpi, tbi, and not knowing what i really want long run. then i found some pictures of my 78 type lt camaro. my senior year of hs i built a 355 in shop class and installed it. with a crap th350 and unknown open rear it did 13's in the 1/4. never made it to dynoing since people get jelouse easy and messed with it to the point it caught fire while i was driving it.
i miss the car but more importantly i loved the motor. a friend bought it and ran it in his pickup with a 144 supercharger. well anyway of all the motors in all the cars in the land i thought about another 355. it was cheap enough for a hs kid to afford on 6.50 and hour so it should be no problem these days. but i lost my nack with carbs. i cant even begin to think how badass that motor could have been with efi.
so now to the question. is it possible to take any aftermarket intake (example rpm air gap or victor jr) drill the intake itself, add injector bungs and a fuel rail (maybe a tpi rail for cost/simplicity) then fabricate an adapter for an ls1 throttlebody of something like that? i plan to use the megasquirt system to run everything. i think it would have so much more potential and for cost put out a lot more ponies and be more easily tuned.
am i nuts?

It really depends on how much power your making and how are u making it(turbo,supercharger,nitrous).If your making under 400 hp it shouldnt cost u more than $3000.
whats that connecting the throttle body to the base???

Yea, I’m not sure why people make that big a deal WRT to cost… I’ve had the vic jr that I’m using sitting around forever, traded it for some parts, and everything that I’ve used so far has been assorted scrap that I’ve had sitting around. The only thing that I’ve actually spent money on so far was just under $40 for some fuel rail stock (which I really didn’t need to spend money on, I’ve got a spare set of LT1 rails that seem to fit fine) and a new carbide bur to port match my heads to it.

Mark have you tried to see if TPI rails woul work if taken apart and redid with AN fittings etc?
I have a pair layin around but havent had time to rip em apart yet. If not I'll prob just buy some or made my own like I did the bungs.

I suspect that they would work and it might be easier then to use the fuel rail stock as well as making my own would have been easy enough…. Honestly, the biggest reason that the thing isn’t done by now is that I can’t decide how I really want to route the fuel lines. I’m having a real conflict between “form follows function” and “this thing is going to look like a cluttered mess”
