How is the tubing secured? Seems it would bounce around like a wet noodle if not.

Re: Why isn't this intake listed as Vortec alternative?

I just have the silicone coupling sitting on the fender. I was going to fab a bracket right away but it sits in there tight as it is now.

Once I got the AE ironed out she really belts out the revs when you step on it. At low idel I had to add 135% pump shot. Kinda cool.

No way I was going to do a normal air cleaner. Stock Fbody hoods and engine compartments get hot and the drop base would of killed the airflow this engine needs. Only thing I may change is the K&N. It looked much bigger in the add. It is on the end of 3.5" tubing.

Going to dyno it? I would be interested in the numbers it makes.

Re: Why isn't this intake listed as Vortec alternative?

This morning I was seeing air at air cleaner at 70F and coolant was 185F so the "not so" cold" cold air apparently works. This AM in WI was 40dF.

My round 14 inch AC got so hot you could fry eggs on it. At that time I had no IAT. I do now.

I am confused. Do you have a cold air intake?? I could definetly use some ideas. THis is the best I cam up with on short notice. I was ready to drive my car after 5 years of sitting.

Me? See post 50 for pics. Best I could do with little room.... Other option is use TPIS cold air for TPI but that would require I hack up fan shroud I was told. I am TBI. 1984 Vette.

Re: Why isn't this intake listed as Vortec alternative?

Well here is the finished product from the first stop on Power Tour 2010. I understand the pictures are late. Kinda forgot about the post. Came acrossed it as I was doing some research on a 9" swap as the intake ran well enough to toast the 7.5" stock rear. THis summer I should be running a Ford 9 with a 3.70 gear ratio. That should liven things up. The axle is going to kill my funds for boost. Oh well maybe next year. Something always seems to come up. At this rate this forged SBC will run until the end of time.

Not bad at all. One thing you ned to do is keep tire dressing on the tires. They look bad especially with custom wheels.

The first stop in Newton was after a torrential down pour. They had you check in in a grass field that had been rain on all night. I was not going to waste my weeks worth of cleaning supplies on the tires. I hit the car wash the next day.

Re: Why isn't this intake listed as Vortec alternative?

Didn't read all the posts so this may have been mentioned before but the copper coating is to "marinize" the intake so the alu doesn't corrode. So, it's a marine application piece.
It's a nice piece for sure, I like seeing uncommon intakes (I have a couple rare/unusual pieces myself)

Yea it is hard finding decent intakes for these cars. Especially with Vortec variant heads. I had relegated myself to a Ramjet intake swap when I came across this. I am glad I found it. It works extremely well once the details were figured out. I am always interested in see some different intakes.

I saw a real SLP Firehawk on PT with a T-Ram. It was awsome. I stood there for hours probably made the guy nervouse.

Any more PT pics? Love the unique intake! It's nice knowing you have something that almost no one else has!
