HSR guys inside please

hey guys i ordered a HSR and am awaiting its arrival. holley says to use felpro #1205 intake gaskets. this is going on a stock headed L98 from a 88 iroc. i lined the gaskets up to the heads and noticed that the gaskets are slightly larger than the ports on the heads. will this create turbulence and hurt power? should i port match the heads to the gaskets? if the heads were off the car i would just go ahead and do it but they are still installed. guess what im asking is is it worth pullin the heads off to do this or are performance gains/loss negligable?

Umm, unless you are a great head porter the HSR will way outflow the heads no matter what. Port matching actually gives you the smallest gains of any porting. It's so common because its so easy LOL. Tho I would say that fresh head gaskets never hurt anything if you've already got the motor that far apart anyway.

I ran my HSR on the stock heads without problems that I could tell. Ran great with HSR. Was running lean on the stock tune and abit with my modified timing table tune but ran strong. A step in the intake tract is never a great thing but if you port matched and didnt open up the whole port in the head, there would be no gain anyway.

agree with both above...I ran mine on stock heads for a bit. No issues, there will be some overlap, the hsr will also have slightly bigger ports than the heads, but unless you port match, don't worry about it.
