I dont recall any grounds being attached on the fuel rails.

Really? I had black wires that were hooked to the hold down bolts on the TPI rails. I assumed they were grounds. I'm going to venture a guess those were supposed to be grounded to the firewall and whoever had the car before me decided to ground them to the rail bolts.

Oh, it gets better. While rewiring my ignition coil wiring (going from big cap to small cap dizzy) I found my tach signal wire had been spliced into. That spliced wire went to a hidden switch under the passenger side kick panel that grounded to the firewall...
I cannot wait to rewire this entire car.
