Alright folks, the Camaro has some slick lines and I think a tilt hood would compliment them well. I nabbed a tilt mechanism off of a Buick Park Avenue and it looks like it'd be a good candidate for the project. A big concern of mine is the heigh of the mechanism, it would take a bit of choppin' to get to lay in there right. Any suggestions on the best way to go about doing this project?

I would never do one just for the fact that you have one less side to work from when you are working under the engine on the car. But then again that may not be a concern to you

True, it's mostly a cosmetic thing. By now though I hope all I'm having to do under there is check the oil (3rd rebuild). Anyway, I'll slap some pics up of the Park Avenue hinge/rod seup later this evening and hopefully get some feedback on it. Otherwise, what are other people's suggestions? I'd like to do this and I know you guys can help!

You could also try to use the Fiero setup. Good luck with it.

I have thought about this many times. I have seen kits but do not remember where I saw them. I talked to a body shop guy and he said he could do it for about $1500. Good luck and show pics if you do it. He also said a glass hood is better to do it with.

Yeah, it'll need to be a pretty mighty setup with that monster steel hood. I will DEFINATELY document the project if I proceed with it, I am just wanting to be prepared and know the best way to do it. Does anybody at least have pics of this?

I think it looks awsome for a show car. How practical it would be for a daily driver I don't know. I say go for it. Good conversational piece.

I think that would be cool. My dad once had an old chevelle he did something like that too.

But instead of just the hood, the whole front end tilted up and foward. I have some pics, i will have to scan them first though.
