Doesnt It Look Like My Car???
Hey guys. I clicked on the "FBodyCD.com" banner (up at the top of this page) and it looks like he's using a picture of my car for his site. This is like the 5th time Ive found my car advertising shops, products, etc. I emailed the guy and he said "Oh thats my buddys car and I took that picture" but its like the identical picture to one I took:
Mods, I emailed the guy back asking him to send me more pics of his buddy's car to ease my curiosity. But I gotta feeling he isnt gonna reply. Do you guys have any say un regards to the advertising on this site? can you do anything?
thanks

I dont know looks the same. If it were me i'd take it as a complement!! But it would be nice if he had asked to use it first. There was a kid last year going around saying my firebird was his. Some girl was telling me how cool this james kids firebird was but i kept saying i had never seen it at school. She brought me a picture of me in my bird doing a burnout outside the school. I was liek sweetheart come walk with me took her out and unlocked my car and showed her teh registration. lol

Well its a compliment yes, but like you said, it would be nice to be asked. And also, the guy even claimed he took the picture....if he just said, "sorry about using your pic.....would you mind?" it wouldnt be a problem

Well just looking at both I can tell you that he used your picture. And I can prove it. I don't think I can , I know I can.
Evidence
1. The rims in both pictures appeare similar
2. The rims in both pictures are at the SAME angles! Its almost IMPOSSIBLE for two cars using similar rims to park like that! Its a statistical impossibility
3. Both cars are the same color
4. Both cars have high lights, and shading from light sources at the same angle.
5. Both cars appear to have been photographed from the same angle.

Thats your car Flyinlow. Now, if he had just admited to using a picture of your car this wouldn't be such a big deal. However since he denied it then I say make some waves.
There is a very GOOD reason that I don't use pictures not provided by the owner in all of the signatures I do.

In fact, he's used other cars from THIS very site. I recognise the black TA in the right corner. I found it through google once and used it for a signature when I didn't have pics of my car.
Now, granted, I found it through google so it was fair game. But I didn't deny anything when the owner contacted me. I admitted to using it, and the owner didn't have a gripe about it. End of story.

ok well the guy sent me "the original pic" and it WAS MINE. he said this is my friend from texas' car, and that he emailed the guy for more pics. i emailed him back saying that it is definately my car and i gave him links to my websites and told him i am from Ontario canada....look at the plates on my pics and yorus, they are ontario plates.
so he emailed me back saying i was right and that his buddy must be lying (funny how first email he said that HE took this pic with HIS OWN camera) SO he said he will take the pic down if i want, the only problem is he used the pic on the labels and sold like 20. he offered me a CDROM also. i told him i dont mind him using the pic, just as long as he asks and i approve of the product

See the black TA on the right of the label? Look familiar?
Click the following link to go to 82resto's Readers Rides page.
See the resemblence in the pics?
Now, I don't think he meant any harm in using your cars for pictures, neither did I when I used 82resto's pics for a signature. However, when 82 contacted me about it, I admited to finding it on google. I also asked him if he wanted me to remove the signature. He declined and told me he didn't mind. I made a new one anyways.

assuming he is hosted through another company and has limited bandwidth, make a webpage using all images from his site, and have your website get the data stragith from his site instead of the temporary files folder (forgot the script) and then have the page auto refresh every 5-10 seconds, and then load the page and sit back and run up his bandwidth.

Yeah, that's an open and shut case! It'd be nice if he admitted to it upfront. By the way, is it cool that I have your car as my wallpaper pic too? hehe. It's been there for several months now and inspired my paint color selection. I didn't want to use the same exact color since others were already on the bandwagon, so I'm going with GM medium silver metallic (popular on the Grand AM and Grand Prix). It'll be a while before it's done though... and i'll stop rambling now!

ya ya ya....Alex, youre only defending the guy coz you steal pics and use them for your profit also. it wouldnt be a big deal if he either asked first. Or admitted it when i confronted hmi. the part that p*ssed me off the most was when he said "I took the picture myself with my own camera" then said his freind took them. If your gonna try to do business atleast be smart about it.
P.S. Alex....you honestly think he made the CD to "help everyone out". Man....and here i was thinking it was to make some money.

I am really suprised that he is being allowed to have a banner here, selling copies of data he didn't create himself. I don't care what his disclaimer says. I can guarentee he doesn't know the "fair use" law either, it isn't that forgiving.

Well you have found out that it is your car...and I agree that he should have contacted/asked you first before he used it on the CD. Remember back when Kandied's car was supposedly for sale on ebay?
