Pics of Weld Wheels! Lets see em'
I need to get an idea of what will fit under the car. If you ahve pix, that would help out immensely!! I'm thinking 15x10 or 15x8 in the rear, i would like to fit a 28x11.5.. Anybody have pix, Waht backspacing do you run, what fits best/looks best? So far in my search i've read that 5.5"bs is the best but i do not have any pix to verify this.. All the fast mustang guyz around her are running 28x12.5 in the rear! I need to size em' up boyz so help me out..

c'mon kandied, your the jedi wheel master i'm sure you have some input or pix, what fits? what bs?
I did alot of searching on this, found alot of guyz saynig 28x11.5 MT ET streets, and Hoosier QTPs would fit, some say 28x12.5s would fit, others say nothing bigger than a 28x10 will fit.. so much variation and no conclusion!! Help me!

If you go with 15x8 use 4.5in backspacing and with 15x10 go with 5.5in backspacing. I have 15x8's in the rear with 26x10.5 ET streets right now. But will be switching to some 28x10.5 soon so I have been trying to research the same thing. From everything I have seen and read most 28in tall tires will require a little hammering on the inside fenderwell for good clearance.

yeah i wouldn't go wider then 10.5 without some modifications...
hell a 10 will give you more then enough traction. as far as b.s. and tire size i only run dr's so i can't really give you the info needed but there are plenty others here who can. i suppose if i was running a car in the 10's or faster i'd try it but otherwise the dr's are plenty for me.

To be honest, my car has the capability to run 9s in the quarter, and be driven everyday on the street which i intend to do SO maybe i will just have to do some experimenting with tire size, like i said the 9 second mustangs are running around here on 28x12.5s, which is what guided me into thinking i need the widest thing possible under there, which would be a 28x11.5..
OK well, how would this work if i go with a 15x8 with a 4.5bs, put on a 28x10.5, obviously it'll fit and work well, now if i use the same rim and bs, and try on a 28x11.5 how will it fit, crappy? will it stick out alot?
And vise vera, if i get the 15x10 rim with a 5.5bs, put on the 28x11.5 it'll fit good but how bout the 28x10.5, how will that look and or fit on the 10 inch rim?

That did'nt turn out like I wanted, but oh well. 10"rim 5.5" bs those were Hoosier QTP 28x11.5 DOT slicks
Another thing to keep on mind is yes extra width is a good thing, but you actually get more contact area with a taller slick, only drawback is you have to gear accordingly. I stepped upto the M/T 29.5x9 after I wore out my 28x11.5 Hoosiers, 60's times were down a little as expected, but overall ET was way down almost .3 and I lost 800rpm at the stripe. I give that up due to added tire heigth(reduced gear reduction) and I also added tubes when I switched over the M/T since they are noted for pinholes in sidewall and losing air. Not to mention with the wieght of my car I was killing the sidewalls so I wanted tubes to stiffened then up.
The taller the tire you can fit the better and then start thinking about added width, look at alot of S/S cars they run 30x9's and are 60' better than most as well as blistering the 1/4mi.

I like the 28x11.5 hoosiers, any more pix? anybody? they look really sweet on ur car IHI
nolan: I wish i coudl get tires to tuck like that without tubbing it.
