They just dont fit the lines of our cars very well, I mean all it is, is a custom plastic enclosure with fog lights in it one for high beams one for lows, but if you could get the skinnyer style of lights you could make the enclosure lower and it would probably then look good.

Too Jar Jar Binks for me
Recess the lights back more and flush the clears with the hood, then its workin.
A appreciate the effort but it does not quite fit the overall flow of the bird.

it'd look real good if it ran with the lines of the hood. the rounded top doesn't look nice at all. if it was straight it'd be hot

see what i was thinking was like the camaro light cover where its just some plastic over the headlight you could do somthing similar if you pull out the pop up light just get a really thin style head lamp in there and put some lexan or somthing over it....

the problem with anything like this is that the fender doesnt have enough vertical rise to fit a decent size enough light in there to give you enough light, secondly, to fit it inthere, it would have to be way set back, and you would loose any size projection to see the sides of the road...
and lets face it - nothing is going to look good there unless the lense is more or less follows the shape of the original headlight lid...

I think the best method is to buy a Camaro if you don't like the popup lights. The hidden headlights is part of what makes the bird body style. Without it, they would look as dumb as a Camaro with pop up lights.

i hate pop up lights when they are up, when they are down thats a differnt story! i know alot of people share this feeling of mine and wanted to see if any one made any cool custom set up

If you could keep the pop-ups and put in those fog lights while making your headlights not pop up as much, it might not look too bad. But still have the pop-ups be operational.

You would just have to find a way to make the motors only pull up the lights that far....
Or you could try to make a pair like this but as stated earlier
the problem with anything like this is that the fender doesnt have enough vertical rise to fit a decent size enough light in there to give you enough light, secondly, to fit it inthere, it would have to be way set back, and you would loose any size projection to see the sides of the road...
It would be very hard to get a wide enough projection of light.

Quite some time ago, I saw a TG Bird (on cardomain) that had pop-up deletes similar to what's posted above. But it was a much nicer, thought-out mod. It was black, and the headlight 'pockets' were yellow (for ***-knows-what-reason). The lenses were pretty flat, followed the existing body very well, and extended to the front edge of the bumper.

Those were ANYTHING but nice. He created a gap between the hood and the lights for better cooling?
The lexan work was okay but the actual light choice and placement was.....not.

You know what, I do remember that gap now. I forgot about that earlier. If he had gotten rid of the gap, and done something about the leading edge, it woulda been a lot better.
What I would do myself, is have the front edge the same, but bring it in front of the turn signal too, and than have the gaps as tight as possible all around.

you know theres gotta be some sort of ultra light bulb led or somthing thats very small and works wonders out there somewhere... with all this technology and crap that we have these days lol, that could just be slapped right in that small opening and it would look like the raif car but still be able to see at night.

^ I was thinking about somehow putting LED's into the front edge of the headlight bezel thing. Maybe pour clear plastic or clear epoxy to make it all smooth too? As for a "buy it at the store" I don't think anything exists - it would have to be custom made.

The current technology in LEDs is crap for actually lighting stuff up. It's sill easier to run a standard bulb or the HID style. LEDs don't provide enough light output for the heat they create. You'd need a large heatsink assembly attached to an LED array that might be somewhat effective.

^ In terms of a sole source of 'headlights' than yes. But you could use some LED's as running lights/DRL's, for example.
I like the idea of that shorter-lift headlight with the 90mm HID projectors

i wouldnt know where to get someone to start making products let alone find someone that would want it but they llok so nice on corvettes and the set up is very similar but i wouldnt want to mess around with $500+ corvette type headlights trying to fit to a bird.

The only decent way to go with firebirds styling is to build an enclosure that runs with the lines of the body. Everything else looks off. It just looks like it does not belong there.
Also, I have to ask...
Why don't you guys like the pop up headlights. I have yet to meet a girl who did not get turned on by that.
Wire them so you can control them separatley and wink at them. There ya go!

I think a lot of the people that don't like the pop-ups is because they stick up WAY too high If it was designed to use like a 3x5 housing instead of the 5x7 or whatever it is, people probably wouldn't hate it as much.

Those would look cool if you made them in the original headlamp assembly and only had them pop up like 3"

As of yet,
I haven't seen any decent looking ones yet either.
But, it is nice to see some different versions that people have put onto their cars.
I think they all get an "A" for effert.
Just nothing for me.

Hrm... I've got a good idea for a setup Haven't seen it done yet...
In order to try to do my idea, I will need a lil bit of from board members seeing as I don't currently have a 'Bird or any F-Body for that matter Anyway, I'll need a pair of headlight assemblies, 82-90, to do my retro-fit on Clue: Part of my retro-fit is going to cost a buttload, so I can't spend a lot on the assemblies. Not lookin' for loaners BTW...
Edit: Actually, I just e-mailed a guy in the Classifieds, if he's not asking too much I'll get a set from him to start working on
