Re: flat black paint

I have a few poor quality pics, both picture and paint job, but if u wanna get an idea, shoot me ur e-mail ill send em your way.

I have done a few cars flat, and all i gotta say is, DO NOT do it to a thirdgen. For the flat to work, you have to have a white interior (or top for the verts), stainless body trim, and/chrome bumpers. Chrome or bright wheels also work, but all of the above is even better.

Seeing as how the thirdgen doesnt have any of these, i would advise against it. It comes down to preference at the end though, but to me the car looks very.... stolen and beater like.

However, if ur doing it just to stop corrosion go for it, but i doubt ud be asking for a visual aid for a functional task.

Re: flat black paint

The reason it looks crappy most of the time is because people fail to realize the difference between black primer and flat black paint. If it's professionally done... primered, sprayed with flat black enamel and then flat clear coated, it can look pretty slick.

Re: flat black paint

I like the flat black. IF done with sealer primer and a half way decent spray gun, it looks good. But if you do it with spoof cans, LAME!

Re: flat black paint

I done mine in black primer with an air compressor and spray gun (not rattle can) back in Sept. 2005. Still looks great today.

Here's some pics of after I done it.

Re: flat black paint

The PPG DB90 was too expensive. I used Omni 732 sealer primer.

Good shot of your ride Psyco! I'll take some more of mine. Do you like the black center polished lip rims?

I want your hood Payne! They look even meaner when you cut out the flaps in the back of the nacca duct to make it functional.
