I cant decide what to go with

I cant decide what color to go with on the side moldings (the protective strip on the doors and fenders)

I have black ones now but I dont know if I should paint them red to hide them a little bit.

Here is what they looked like before I got the car painted

http://www.350iroc-z.com/miscpics/exterior/ry17.jpg

and here is my car without them now

http://www.350iroc-z.com/suspension/cardriver.jpg

Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance

Ryan

I like it without, but then one ding and the paint is messed up. If you're putting them back on, definitely go with red. Just my opinion though.

personally, I like keeping the car stock. Adding too much or taking away tears apart the integrity. You should paint the old ones red. Like the wheels. Did you chrome dip them. I polished mine but no matter how well you do, they never shine like chrome. Nice car, keep it up.

Personally, I like the look of a really good set of polished rims, than a set of chrome rims.... I think chrome looks kind of ghetto, they also have a .... load of problems with rusting.... they draw to much attention away from a sweet car.... but if you have a honda civic you need chrome rims lol I like the wheels on the yellow iroc better, plus you know that he cares about his car and put about 20 hours of labor into just those wheels.. what do you guys feel about this?

Wow
That one kinda hurt
I didnt know that by putting chrome wheels on my car i dont car about it. I personally thought that the chrome dipped 16x8 stock rims would give less of a ghetto appearance then putting on 17, or 18's with small tires.

Guess its all personal preference.

I'd like to get a set of those tail light blackouts for my black 89 unforgiven. Some want their car to speak "Fast and Wild" other "Classic, Stock, Muscle" me, I want it to speak, "Sneaky, Dangerous, "I'm gonna run down your childern! Cuase I'm the angel of death" and of course Muscle" but thats just me and my black 89. The unforgiven. Nice car though, love t-tops!

one your IROC-Z decal is in the wrong place, and if you plan on putting the strips back on paint them red, and dont worry about the wheels... if i have learned one thing lately its.

ITS YOUR CAR DO WHAT YOU WANT.(period)

thats why my new license plate is gonna be
MY IROC

well have fun and keep the car clean.

this is the car stock, and with the RIGHT decal positions. just stating a fact.

and here is the car without any bump guards, i like much better.

I'm not sure on the exact years, but the IROC decals are in different spots for different years. his being an 86 had them at the front, yours being a 90 had them at the back (which I personally like better)

The damn body shop I swear they where drunk.

as far as positioning left to right the decals are right Howere. top to bottom they are a little bit high. Like anyone else you loves there car ANY slight imperfection will drive you nuts.

I like the way the car looks without the protectors too but when i park the car I fear that the jackass next to me will open his door and f up my car. I think I will get them red and put them on.

Thanks for all of the replies pos and neg.

Ryan

I don't think you have a clue what you are talking about. I chrome plated my IROC wheels back in '92 and don't have one spot of rust on them. Of course that MAY have something to do with the fact that IROC wheels are made out of aluminum.

As for liking or not liking the looks of polished vs. plated, that is just a personal preference. I really doubt that anyone would ever accuse my car of looking ghetto. I personally think they look great both ways, as well as stock.

As to implying that yellowiroc2 cares about his car more than 350iroc-z just because he has polished rims... I think that was a very low blow, offends me deeply, and was totally uncalled for. That would be like me saying that people that work at Maaco don't care about cars because they do crap for paint jobs compared to a quality restoration shop. How about posting a pic of your car here so we can have a look at what you drive? I notice you don't have a website that we can visit to see it.

Since you have already done some mods to your car, I'd go with the red on the moldings. I think it just looks cleaner. GM made both the narrow style (like yours) and the later wide style in red as well as black (and also in other colors). I don't know if they are still available or not, but you might check with your dealer and see. The colored plastic will hold up lots better than just painting yours. BTW I think you have one beautiful car there!

Hey man sorry i was being disfunctional and i thought your car was an 89.

but anyways, paint them red, it will look the same and its such a minor detail dont worry about it.

have fun with your car and have the body shop change those decals, they put them on wrong. so have them change them. its looks bad, sorry but i am an honest person.

I thought about going back and yelling at them but it would matter. I would have to buy new stickers (around 100 bucks) and then they would probably find a way to **** up the paint when removing them from where tehy are. I even brought pictures of other irocs so that way they had something to reference by. I guess when you drunk it doesnt matter though. I wish they didnt f up so bad but thanks for the honesty

thanks for the compliment "importsrsloth". I don't think he meant that you guys don't give a crap about your car, only stating the fact that I took the hard road. Not saying chrome dipping is the easy one, just easier. So now that that's cleared up, let's not bite anyone's head off. Peace out. Time to go disc golfing.
