Heritage Stripes

I heard that these stripe kits from factory
were a vynil kit not painted on the car,
if this is correct I was wondering how well
these stripes held up in a car wash, I don't
wash my car at a wash very often but I was
just wondering, cause I was considering
putting them on my car after it gets painted.
Thanks in advance
Jason

I agree with Rod here...although I have had no problems with my heritage stripes on my 92, getting them painted on would be the way to go here. A reputable bodyshop should have no problems with the striping.

My heritage black stripes are okay but I plan to have them painted on when I get the camaro painted again.

The previous owner had one of the thin stripes come off but put it back on, looks okay.

Everybody thinks they are painted on but upon closer inspection, they say "oh, they are just stickers!"

Hope this helps!!!

rods92z,

Where did you get your paint job? Was it somebody local in your area or a nationwide paint place?

Let me know!!!

Car: '92 RS
I gotta question for you guys. this winter Im going to get my hood repainted because the clear coat has really started to fade. anyway, what I was wondering is, I think NextGen sells the individual pieces to the heritage stipe kit, and since I cant get my whole car repainted at this time, order the stiped for the rear deck, and go to the paint shop here and have them color match some red paint to the vinyl so that the two atleast look close to each other. then, after about another coupla months I would be able to get the rear striped painted on. does anyone think this is an alright way to do it? Ive got a black RS that I think some red stipes would look sweet on since Im also painting my calipers red and the spokes of the wheels red. let me know what yall think. thanks

I had it done locally. I just gave a guy a picture of what I wanted, told how to do the decklid border stripe, and what color. He custom mixed the paint himself and had it done in 6 days. He was the only person who worked on it. It came out to 56 hours labor. He barely squeezed it in, otherwise I probably be still waiting to get my car in.

You can totally tell they're fake in those pictures. The spacing and dimensions are all wrong.

Thats why I call them custom heritage stripes. Besides I don't like that the originals are wider than the front part of the power bulges, I think that looks tacky. Other than that they are factory dimensions.
