Re: Another 3rd gen brought to life by detailing...
I'll tell you why I like posting threads like this.
For one, it's cool to see. The other thing is, I sometimes see cars with original factory paint which is neglected and needs correction, but is all there, and has the potential to look good or even great. When I see a car like that, and the owner gives it a $200 paint job or gets a can of Rustoleum and a roller, it makes my want to cry.

No. Joe from Superior Shine is one of the premier detailers in the country. Seriously. He is very, very well known in the detailing community. While I cannot truly give his price, I can say probably multiply the big end of that by 2 or 3. You get what you pay for in the detailing world.

I saw the full spread on MeguiarsOnline, impressive results and considering that original single stage paint (according to the post).

the before is almost similar to when i first got my car, then i buffed it and it came out half as decent. i would go all the way to get what he did, but the car needs body work so i dont think it'd look that great =/
awesome job though!

I have a hard time imagining someone would charge $600 to wash/clay/buff your paint on a car like that. Seems pretty steep to me for anything other than a showcar or rare exotic.
I could be wrong, but do you really think that 82 Firebird owner paid that?

Good detailing isn't cheap. Anyone can make a black car look good in the shade, but get it in direct sunlight....see what a cheap detail looks like.

I would like to know the compounds or pads. It looks like a sand and polish job. How many steps for the black ?

Re: Another 3rd gen brought to life by detailing...
Yeah, that did not tell me what I wanted to know.
It is hard to tell in a pic-is the scratches on the hood from the clay? It looks like 2500 wet sanding marks to me. Clay does not cut much if you ask me. More for owners to get sap and stuff out IMHO.
One compound by machine, one d/a, and one hand I guess ?
I thought Mequires was bought by 3m some time ago.
