Been awhile new thirdgen

Well ive had probably somewhere around 8 3rd gens and a bunch of 4th gens. Been on this site not active forever, but now im back and just picked up another 3rd gen. Its a 87 and its got along way to go but hopefully within a year the body and interior will be done. It runs but its a 2.8. Once i help my friend put in his motor im gonna tackle this one and go carbed (i hate carbed motors but its easier and its only going to be a once in a while car). Plans are new carpet and black 4th gen firebird seats, recover headliner, replace dash pad and alot of cleaning, oh and replace the steering coloum, it currently starts by pulling a wire. Exterior has no real rust just some surface rust where it was sanded and been in a shed, gonna fix any dents then do 91 92 gfx 91 92 z28 hood with blisters and then wing, paint it, pretty decided on purple haze with silver 25th stripes. Wheels im not sure on but thinking torque thrust II's. Let me know what you think of it. Mods: been a while if this is the wrong section move.

Re: Been awhile new thirdgen

Its actually not as bad as it looks. Hopefully ill have it running good and body and interior done by next spring. I know quickly ill have more money in parts into the car than the 400 I paid for it.

Re: Been awhile new thirdgen

Made progress this afternoon, and i got a perfect condtion dash pad out of the junkyard today, no fading even. We took out all the interior and trashed the bad pieces saved the good. Im going back to the junk yard tomorrow to get a full set of 99 camaro seats for $80 and pick up some of the interior pieces i need. Heres some pics, there is a little rust on the floors, most is surface, but the passanger rear foot well is really thin and will need to be patched, and i have to patch where someone replaced the fuel pump the easy way.

Lots of potential, 89! Just lay into it with sweat and elbow grease, the rewards will be sweet

Re: Been awhile new thirdgen

im going tomorrow to pick up a 92 parts car for $200 which will have all the parts i need except the z28 hood and wing. I may even just swap this motor and trans into the 92 car depending on if it was a v6 or a v8 car.

Progress today was i put a battery in the car, fixed the fuel leak, and started it. Starts right up and it moves. Could use a good tune up and has a misfire which is probably a bad plug. It has flowmaster exhaust that actually doesnt sound bad on the v6 no rasp and kinda deep.
