My idea thirdgen would be a little something like this...
-Black 1988 IROC-Z with T-tops
-L98 350 w/ performance comp cam, MSD ignition, AFR 195 Cylinder Heads, Edelbrock intake
-Hooker Headers, flowmaster american thunder stainless steel catback,
-5 speed manual transmission, 3.73 rear end gear ratio
yay

Bone stock looking black IROC. But with everything upgraded from stock. Better handling, braking, acceleration, traction, audio...etc That's been my goal for my car since I purchased it.

My ideal third gen is my third gen lol. I have built my entire drivetrain, my entire interior, rear suspension, the paint is crisp and just finishing up odds and ends. Prolly will be done in another two years I'd say

Re: What is your ideal thirdgen?
Black 87-89 Iroc with blacked out
Sorta like the exterior of this dudes camaro... without the front emblem painted or the irocz emblems. The 5.7 tuned port would be removed however.
The NEW Gen 5 LT1 engine with a t56... if it would bolt up
Black c5z rims with polished lip... 19s out back and 18s up front
Shocks, SFC, lowering springs, torque arm, aftermarket k, fifth gen brembos with slightly larger, slotted rotors member along with other suspension goodies
Full fourth gen dash+doors which sat perfectly flush with all the creature comforts. Heated leather seats, very mild sound system, upgraded head unit
Yes, this is only a dream.....

Re: What is your ideal thirdgen?
1. '92 Firehawk, any color, any options. The Aluminum Engine Block and Competition Package would be a nice addition though.
2. Since I'll never be able to afford that, an '89 TTA.
3. Since I'll never be able to afford that, I'm building my GTA to be a modernized cross between the two.
-AFR headed ZZ4 shortblock, Comp Cammed, Ramjet intake 350
-T56 trans/Dana 44 (or 12 bolt) rear
-Full Frame Stiffening and Suspension Upgrades
-C5 Vette Brakes
-Stock interior and exterior (except for the wheels)
-Ronals or my M-Parallels (wouldn't be opposed to switching)
-Intercooled Procharger Setup
That's the current plan at least.

1990 RS,
LT5+TKO or T56
Dark blue, silver ground effects, totally custom, but looking like it just rolled off the line, not flashy or over the top.
1990 Formula.
Built LT4, TKO or T56
2 tone light blue w/ silver rockers, bone stock appearance except for wheels and tires/brakes.

Re: What is your ideal thirdgen?
My Ideal Thirdgens is a List of a few.
But one for Example is a 1982 Trans Am KITT with an Aluminum 350ci Block, Completely Forged Internals, aim for something Really nice to bring some justice for KITT to live up to his reputation of pealing out and doing some nice burnouts with a healthy happy number like.... 400 rear wheel horsepower, Monster Built th-350, 28 spine axles, and Tuned Edelbrock 650 cfm carb with Slotted and drilled 4 wheel disc Hawk brake pads, aluminum radiator, all Stock exhaust system, for Factory KITT appearance, with fat 225/7015s on the 15" Turbo finned wheels., aluminum driveshaft, 3.23 Posi and some traction bars and Fresh set of Bilsteins and some hotchkis springs, Custom Bulletproof windows but if I'd have to modify the doors then I would at least try to make them shatterproof with some laminating 3m film for the windows , and some wire tweaking so that whenever I turn on the radio whoever is talking or singing will appear on KITTs voicebox like in this video of Leo Laporte talking thru KITTs voicebox and of course an Alarm System with Keyless entry.

Get my KNIGHT replica plate on the back and then.... WE RIDE ! Al Bundy style

Re: What is your ideal thirdgen?
I'm very happy with my car.
Down the line I wouldn't mind picking up a vert for my girlfriend to drive. She's really good at rolling cars so I'd probably do mainly suspension and brake upgrades on it. Maybe some modern conveniences like keyless entry, power locks, upgraded lighting, stereo, etc.

Car: 1987 Trans Am
Engine: 355 tpi
Transmission: 5 speed
Re: What is your ideal thirdgen?
Well in my mind the factory jut did not make an ideal third gen, I my self like the Trans Am 86-89 above all others, but they missed the mark a bit So I am building what I want,
widened fender flares,
wheels that will fit 285 40 front, 345 35 rear tires
Different rear wing like a second gen had,
I like the look of the original but its to heavy and mising the mark a bit
An engine that puts out close to 500 hp and tq
A manual trans, 5 speed maybe a 6 speed to handle it
A C4 corvette dana 44 rear suspension and C4 front suspension
10 pt roll cage, painted the same blue as the body will be.
black interior, two custom racing seats in black with the firebird emblem embroidered on them in blue. Black roll bar padding.
Rear glass will have the firebird etched into it the limo tinted,
pop up delete head lights,
Body painted a metalic blue , hood painted satin black with cowl painted blue
wheels will be satin black with polished aluminum lips
Trans Am on lettering on back spoiler, Small bird on sail panels, 5.0 liter decals on side like stock.
This is the car I am building and will be in my eyes the ideal third gen
