It's got a little bit of an alignment problem in the pics.....is that a design flaw or its not fully installed on the car.

Otherwise, looks pretty sweet!

No sh**
He had all kinds of trouble getting it even remotely close to being aligned. When the center point was in the middle the outer edge would touch on one side and about a inch short on the other.

I think he returned it to the seller but had to pay the shipping anyway!!

dont think that was fair, why would i want a hood that doesnt fit!

Man is that terrible. Was this bought by a private individual or a company? I would be seriously pissed if the seller didn't make things right. Looks like the stuff Suncoast Creations used to sell.

He did not get it from suncoast. He just signed up to third gen and said he was gonna post his own story, I dont want to be the "i have a friend who"
guy. He loved that hood and is looking for a company who can make one that fits.

The car in the pix is my 87 GTA. I ordered the hood off of thirdgenresource. I phoned my order into them. Then the next day I was back on the internet and came across thirdgen.org and started reading the message boards. I bumped into one about thirdgenresource, as I read the long list I became concerned on my purchase of a $550 Ram Air II hood. I figured just wait and see what happens. Roy told me that I'd receive the hood within 4 weeks. That was true. So my father and I took off the original and bolted on the aftermarket hood. On the passenger side the hood sat on top of the fender, and on the drivers side there was a large gap. The hood needed to be drastically moved around. But the biggest problem was that the point that they have on the hood between the Ram Air inlets was off by almost 2 inches. I took the car to a couple of body shops in my area and none of them would touch it. Each on told me to return it. I called and wrote Roy. He told me that I was the first to complain about the hood like it was my fault. He also said that he has never seen one because he sells them for George from GTaccesories. So I took 24 pix of my hood and sent them to both of them. George said "my worker must have been on crack when he sanded it down". In the end I got to write an email or call one or the other every other day for them to take it back. I lost $125 on shipping. One thing that I don't understand and Roy never got back to me on was why I only got refunded $515 for the hood when I paid $550. All of this was a big disappointment to me because I loved the style of that hood!!! Everyone around my area was asking me about it because no one had seen such a hood before.

If it was a manufacturing problem, you shouldn't be stuck with any shipping or other costs. I assume that you paid by credit card. If so, call up the card company and deny the charge. You should be able to dispute this charge even if you have already paid the bill. I'm assuming that your factory hood doesn't have any alignment problems? Did you contact GTAuto Accessories directly to see what the problem was? If not, you probably should.

If you bought it new (not used) then whoever made it should stand behind there products and replace it and i think its Bull $hit for you have to pay the shipping to return it!!And the $515.00 refund on a $550.00 hood would really **** me off.

Tell them you want your $ back and buy one ASCD

My fit pretty good after drilling out the holes in the hinges. The bolts in the hood were bigger than the ones for the hinges. But I bought mine from USBody source, if your willing to pay about 650 plus shipping (picked mine up since it is an hour away) Here's a few pics of it since your new to the board and haven't seen mine yet:

I also had a gap between the air inlets, about 3 inches. I fixed that, and I also had a problem with a fender rubbing when I put it on since the bolt holes weren't big enough and we had a hell of a time getting our drill to open em, so the guy who painted it had his guys fix it up, and now it fits fine. You can see in the picture it is a pretty good fit. Sorry about what happened, I hope you get everything fixed, I hate when people screw you over. Good Luck, and don't give up.
