lighted switches in the overhead console

lighted switches in the overhead console
Hey guys, I remember a while back someone installed I think 4 lighted switches in the overhead console replacing those counter things. Can that person post how they did it for me?

I had three non lit switches in there but then switched to a cheesier version and now im working on adapting a digital compass/timer in there.

nosaint......how did you insert that plastic peice and how did you take out the spinners without damaging he console?

I used a dremel. Once you take it off it becomes easier to see what you can cut off and what needs to stay. I attached the plate using hot melt glue and have never had a problem with it. Pretty easy.

nosaint- did you mount the switches to the panel, then mount the panel to the console? or did you mount the panel by itself first then determined where u wanted the switches and mounted them?

I first cut out that cheesey counter and then made a template out of thin cardboard. Once i got it the way i liked it i transfered it over to a sheet of thin metal and cut the switch holes. I then mounted the switches and glued the panel to the console. I installed quick disconnect for all the electrical connections to aid in the install.

Sounds like you did your the same way I did mine NoSaint. I have 6 switches in mine though. A few of them are giving me issues though. There are just too many wire up there at the moment. I have illuminated switches. I had a heck of a time installing mine after I did it. The wires took up all my clearance under the console. But they definately look better than the dials. I got mine from a yard and someone had already busted up the dials, so removal was no prob.
