Who all has 'em? How much did you pay? The 4th gen leather seats gotta be some of, if not the best looking production seat ever!

Scaufiel: those are the ones! Awesome! Do you know if those were Trans Am, or Formula seats? Do they differ? Are those the seats I see referred to as "articulating"? Thanks!

It's been a while, but I'm 90% sure they came out of a Trans Am - as far as "articulating" goes, I would suppose so. They've got the electric adjustable and inflating lumbar supports (not that it's hooked up or anything); I believe they were called 6-way adjustable IIRC.

Steve's seats are Trans Am seats. I have Formula seats in my IROC, which are 100% identical except for the head rest. My formula seats have the articulating crap too, which is somewhat rare for the non-trans am seats. I thought the formula style headrest fit the overall design of my Camaro better than the T/A seats do, but on the firebird they both look good.

You're not considering getting rid of your flo fits are you? I'll tell you from my personal experience that the flo fits are 100x more comfortable than the 4th gen seats. I was really disappointed when I got my 4th gen seats. They're as hard as a rock and I slide all over the place. My flo fits fit me like they were made for my fat ***. I'm considering getting them recovered and putting them into the Camaro. I've got to have the bolster adjustments and lumbar all the way out otherwise I get a back ache within 20 minutes.

You wouldn't be interrested in a trade perhaps? Your flo fits for my Formula seats?

Anyway, here's a pic (Copy and paste):

I'll post mine later when Im home, Im at school, but the T/A and formula seats are the same. I have the head rest style posted above. the LT1 and LS1 have different head rests, the newest ones are a thing head rest, the LT1 ( I think 98 is when they switched) are big like above.

Well, not exactly. The new TAs use my style head rest, but also have different control buttons & plastic skirts. The Formulas have always used this style head rest.

Mine are the above style head rest, with plastic skirts on the site, and the power buttons are a circle on the skirts, what are mine. I think they said they are from a 96

if yours look like the ones that steve posted, then they probably are from a 96. The newer ones (LS1 years) have my style head rest, and 2 separate rocker switches instead of the round switch configruation.

My interior is the same color as yours. I was reluctant to get the darker seats, but now I love the contrast. Now I'm toiling over whether to get the light carpet like I already have, or get the graphite carpet to match the seats. Decisions decisions.

I've got a set of tan flo fit seats that I'm not going to wind up putting into my GTA, and I may recover them in graphite leather if I ever hit the lottery. I'm also considering buying some of that Lear Sieglar (sp??) "CAMARO" pattern cloth and covering them to look like the stock L/S interior.

But if you change your mind, let me know. I wouldn't mind having the gray flo fits in there while I recover my tan ones.

I thinnk the 4th gen articulating seats are essentially the same as the 3rd gen "Ultima" Articulating seats that came in the GTA, and optional in the TA & Formula. The only difference I can really see is the headrest, and the seat bottom appears to be different slightly, I think starting in 93 they eliminated the thigh support.

John

btw, I like showing off my seats so here ya go...

They still have the thigh support but the mechanism is slightly different.

But... my GTA seats feel 100% different than my 4th gen TA seats. The GTA seats are more plush and conform to me better. The TA seats are stiff as hell and not nearly as plush. But they look the same.

SINCE were on the topic of 4th gen seats. The headrests, are they supported by 2 posts or one on 4th gen seats? My 87 seats only have a single bar.

LOL, thanks man!
Im with you though, I don't really care for tan either - but the first time I saw the neutral ones I was sold! It took me a year or so to find them and the guy who sold them on ebay advertised them as tan, but after looking at the pics over and over I just knew that they were neutral and not tan. He said "they look tan to me!" - so obviously he didn't know what he had. I got them for $400, and sure enough when I got them home there was a sticker underneat saying "Neutral".

Out of a '97 SS. I paid a little too much, but they were as close to new as anything in the car lots. ($700)

Jim, the Neutral is less tan and more gray than tan - so they are kinda between light gray and tan somewhere.
They are kinda like the Pewter paint that is available on late model GM vehicles - it isn't quite gray, but it isn't beige - but sorta' inbetween. Infact, a Pewter TransAm w/neutral interior looks absolutely awesome.
However, the Neutral (as the name implies) actually goes nicely with most colors - which was one reason I chose it so that Im kinda free to do what I want at a later point when it comes to exterior colors. I also didn't want gray or black since that is what almost everybody gets when switching interiors..

Tell me about it. I've been slowly changing my interior (started with headliner in Aug '01) to black and am close to finishing.

I still need seatsand have been debating on putting "Neutral" seats in there. I would leave everything else solid black. I think that would look awsome, kind of a two tone look. I need to re-upholster the top portion of my door panels, i think I would do that in neutral as well:

Either that or do the "Neutral" 4th Gen door Panels when I do the 83-97 Camaro Dash Swap... Unsure... (I'm broke, so I got a lot of time to think )

stuart69427,
Earlier you were talking about changing the inserts at the top to the color of the seats. When I did seatcovers for my Formula the first time, I did just that... Because the new material I got for my seats was not exactly like the OEM, I asked for an extra yard of the material, I cut it out and put it in the spot....

Actually how they made those door panels makes it really easy to do, so all you have to do is remove the door panel, then the metal strip you gently bend the metal clips on the back side of the door then unscrew the top trim piece... It really turned out nice.

heres yours in gray...

Here are mine. I paid $175 Canadian for the set. They are pretty much sold, so don't ask

Wow, that looks sweet, thanks John! I really need to laern to do that in photshop, i have the program, just haven't taken the time to learn.

When I first got the doorpanels, I PMed you about your designs and you were very helpfull.

Thanks again! That looks good!
