3rd gen shaker
Has anybody ever tried to put a 70's style shaker hood scoop on a 3rd generation Carb T/A. If so can I see pics and get any advice?

Has anyone ever seen an L88 hood on a third generation? I think it would look awsome if someone had enough ambition to build one.

Basically that's it. The 2nd Gen T/A's had them. I'd love to buy one!

I saw a 91 Firebird at the 1994 Trans Am Nationals, that was done up as an early 70's T/A, with a shaker, engine turned dash, rally II wheels, and taillight mods.
The car was painted white with the blue stripe, and the shaker was mounted to the air cleaner, as it should be.
I'll have to dig up the pics, and post a couple

I absolutely love the shaker hood on that T/A. Whether or not is could be functional, I think that maybe it could. I own a T/A with the TPI. It would probably take some fabrication by creating a tubing with air filter that ran from the throttle body to the opening of the shaker hood inlet. All I can say is that I am going to put more thought into this. It is too cool not to work. TPI guys and gals, lets put some thought into this. Viva la shaker hood!

Get an original 2nd gen shaker assembly, and start measuring

Someone here has an old shaker that he turned around backwards, so it is basically an air intake.
Now, that would work with TPI, and it DOES look good, if you see the picture it makes sense.

Car: Check The Sig
The Mach 1 has it, and that uses EFI. It could be made to work, you would have to make a 180* elbow set up, much like on the ram air LT1 4th gens, and then mount the shaker to that. They also make a shaker hood for F150's and there was a "concept" 4th gen trans am that was all white with a blue shaker scoop.

Hi guys!
High Performance Pontiac did a story about that '91 or '92 Firebird with the Sport Appearance Package, that also had the hood scoop! Beautiful job! I can't remember which issue, so sorry!
Also, many many years ago, Ken of the old H.O. Racing (big west coast Pontiac tuner/speed shop for Pontiac), got a fiberglass stock firebird hood, cut a scoop hole in it, and dropped in an early ('73-'76 Trans Am) hood scoop, on his 1983 red Trans Am. This car was also on the cover of one of the 4 Camaro/Firebird magazines by one of the big car mags out there. He ended up selling the hood and scoop assembly by itself. I wish I had bought it! It looked really "cool"!
So.........................who needs a Trans Am hood scoop for their project????
Later,
George
