Well, I know how tired we are of our cracked dash pads, and our peeling arm rests. Well, looking back through some of my old mopar mags I found an ad for Just Dashes. The web sight is http://www.justdashes.com They restore your dash pad to concours quality (aka Factory correct). They also have a section where you can get a free estimate. I just sent one to them and I will post it up when it comes back to me. I just thought I'd share this, cause we all know good parts are getting pretty scarce. I hope this helps.

Well, I just called them about 10 minutes ago and they quoted me $450.00 for the service with a 8 to 10 week turn around. The $ figure represents the dash pad redone in black. They said $500 for other colors. So, it'll be a TAD pricey, but then again the pads are gettin hard to find (at least for me). The proverbial "rock and a hard place" feeling again.

Well, I never said I was going to do it. I don't have that kind of $$. But, for someone who is restoring his/her F-bod, and want it done right (with correct grain let alone better materials), this covers at least one base of their restoration. Anyways, if you wanna do a brother a favor, grab a mint pad and ship it this way (points to central PA), cause there sure as hell isn't any near me..lol!!

This is really interesting. I swapped the dashpad out of my old '84 SC into my current car, and noticed it wasn't plastic. I know the '84 was in a front-end accident before I bought it... I wonder if this is where it came from. I'll try to get a picture of it.

one cold morning before school i shattering my dashpad w/ my knee. too bad i have one in mint condition in my basement, now i gotta take the chances of changing them out. my luck i'll get the broken one out just fine and break my new one

I'm actually recovering my dash myself! I haven't quite finished it but I have already found a smooth closed-cell substrate of the correct thickness and am just working on a way to recreate the defroster vents. I'll post pics in a DIY article to come.

I'd like some updates on this, as my dashpad is not only cracked, but it looks like a pit bull terrier was chewing on the corners.

Mine was probably worse! Here is what I have so far... My pad was removed, I chipped away what plastic and foam I could, had it sandblasted, filled the valleys with expanding foam and shaved the top flat, and am now working on a new vent set-up. The foam (1/4" closed-cell) will be glued on the base then covered with low-sheen vinyl. The vents can be made from anythinglong and oval, but I wanted something cooler! I'll go into further details soon!

Update -
The foam I'm using still had dips where the holes are on the panel. I'm going to put a thin wooden underlayment over the panel, glue it, shoot insulating foam into the voids, and reattach the foam tonight.

hmmm... for $450 - $500 bucks, i think it's time to throw away the old dash pad and buy a replacement for $200 or less. I have a mint camaro pad that i've been meaning to put up on e-bay. seeing how well they sell on there, I hope to make $150 or maybe even more off of it

I just got a new windshield last weekend and took the dash pad out to do a similar "homemade recovering" job.

I'll post pics/progress when I get a handle on it.

I got one from a boneyard thats in pretty good shape except for the covering on one of the corners is pretty torn up. anyway I'm looking to either sell it or fix it (either one or both). just thought I would mention that.

i'm takin the one out of my parts car right now cause its mint...i juist took out all the bolts underneath the front of it, but how to i get it out? do i just yank it...it seems to be still attache up under te windsheild somehow.

Theres 4 bolts in the defroster area.. just be careful not to drop them in there , thats an annoying rattling sound.

I don't know about dashes....but my dad figured out how to fix the arm rests on the door....Mine were peeling BAD and we had a few pairs of bad ones..He fixed 'em..they look new now.....We bought plastic bonder (this **** fixes everything) the kind in a big syringe with two tubes connected. Lather it in between the pieces and clamp it up with boards and c-clamps......

It tried that one my original armrests, lasted 6 months... Bought new ones and did the epoxy trick with heavy twine across the inner flaps too, lasted 1 year... Bought a set of early armrests from an '84 in the junkyard, still perfect after 2 years!! The 87 and older are much sturdier!!!
