2nd gen seats in a 3rd gen????
Anybody ever do this? If so, how hard/easy was it?
I know a lot of people put 4th gen seats in, but I have an extra pair of seats outta my 80' Camaro, and now that I blew MOST of my budget on the driveline, I am lookin for easy(aka CHEAP) mods!!!!!
backwards engineering, but it may work!!!

I'm pretty sure 2nd Gen Camaro seats are a direct bolt in as long as you use the seat tracks from your 3rd Gen.
Last summer I found that a set of Z24 Cavalier seats are direct bolt-ins for my '70 Camaro, as long as I used the 2nd Gen Camaro seat tracks.
Now, ask me why I considered the Cavalier Z24 seats in my 2nd Gen Camaro ?? Because they 'recline'... and are WAY more comfortable than those awful 2nd Gen Camaro seats.
Actually, I have those Cavalier seats for sale now... due to the fact that a friend hooked me up w/ a set of '03 Dodge Viper seats for the '70.
Shoot me an email if you're interested in buying the Cavalier seats; you'll get a good deal on them.
BTW- There's not a rip or tear on these seats... NICE !!

most GM seats will work if you use 3rdgen or 4thgen tracks.
personally i think you should goto a junkyard and see if you can find a nicer set then 2ndgen seats...

seats...
Well, not really lookin for "comfort" or "convience" here....if I was going to get new seats, the would be racing seats., and maybe a rollbar, but that just ain't in the budget right now!!
My drivers seat is torn, spring hangin out(rippin my shirts), and I think is is broke, cause it has a MAJOR lean-on!!
Thanks for the input , guys!!

From what I know the fronts should bolt right in, if not switch the tracks. The rears are supposedly too wide for thirdgens and I cant recall offhand if there buckets or not.

the fronts will work just bolt your seattracks on the 2nd gen seat, and for the comment on reclining, your right they dont recline but are very comfortable, much more comfortable than my old 3rd gen seats, dont know how comfortable 4th gens are though.

Well, the seats are in.
They bolted up with a lil grinding of the seat frame to clear the hinge of the adjustment arm, and drilling a new hole closer in for the actual mounting, but for the most part, straight forward.
Only took about two hours, too.
