I been photoshopping possible paint options, I came down to these 2 options.
I can't decide, I guess everyone with the 2 tone paint has the black on top. I wanna be different and put it on the bottom. But it looks good eather way.
orange top / black bottom.. OR ..black top / orange bottom? what do you think?

I think the black vette/z06 rims would look great with either of those paint schemes ) I'd say leave your rims alone or paint them black, but if you upgrade, go black!

I have real z06 rims from my brothers old car, they don't fit. Guess I could go with a z06 style rim. I got 20" rear 18" front iroc's right now. I was seriously thinking about painting them black.
so, black on the bottom or top? what do you like better?
do the z06 rims not fit because of the need for the spacers/adapters? Ooo, those larger iroc rims would look good black too! Cars going to look great whichever route you go.

The rear on the real z06 rims is too wide. they could be made to fit, but for all the trouble, I could just buy a shallower rim that fits better.
Everyone that I've scene with 2 tone paint, has the blalck on top, think I wanna be diff. I might put mine on the bottom and take that wack lame orange stripe off the rims.
Man, this came out bad. LOL! You can still see orange through the cutout! This was a fast job, I'm sure I can do better (if I wasn't @ work). Gray's and silver's are hard to photoshop. this is a grayscale of the same car. It would help if you could post a color sample of shade of silver you have in mind.

Sure, it dosn't take long. Post a pic of the car (if you don't like the angle in my pics), tell me what color you want, also give a description of the paint job.
Maybe I will wip together an application where you can select paint, hood stripes, louver color, RS stripes, etc...

Now THAT is nice. A little orange stripe on the color break would look sweet. It's a little visible on the door. If you could run it all the way down the side of the car I think you're on to something.
Oh, and either polish the rims or leave them alone.

@ JR350tpi,
holly crap man! Thats a bad *** IROC! I'm really feeling the side scoop!
Looks like the same rim setup I have 20" rear 18" front! give me a min (I'm not @ home). I will post the results of the silver IROC soon.

painting the top of the car like that looks crappy in my opinion. See what you think about painting it around the middle of the side of the car. Bring the top color down to the main side accent line. The one that goes below the headlights and around where the door bumper molding is.
It changes the balance, but the angles on these cars to me make the top half of the front bumper cover being the same color as the rest of the top of the car look really strange.
This is a member's car, btw. But I think this looks very unique, but it looks like it could be factory too. I considered very strongly doing something similar myself.
Reminds me very much of this:
has a real racecar look to it... But subdued enough to not look very tacky.
Other than that, silver is one of the best looking unique colors for our cars. Maroon and metallic blue look good but they're very common. Silver looks VERY good.

i think the black top with orange body is beautiful. the black top not only looks nice but also matches with the convertible cloth so it think it looks pretty good like that. no boubt in my mind keep the original rims. i also like the silver bottom black top.
wow.. your thinking on the lines as me..
I think youd do with a traditional black on top, orange on bottom.
Since I have a vert like you, can you do me the same photoshop with hugger orange and only black out the lower ground effects and all spoilers?
That is an idea I am working with at the moment. Currently stock the car is original copper color.
Sorry everyone, I have been out of town over the weekend. I have edited the photo's and will be getting to my PM's tomorrow. I don't mean to drag the thread down, but I just been busy.

Sorry, my rims are @ the shop getting paint. If I am not mistaking they are still stripping the polished finish.
the paint color is called "candy tangerine", ya like?
I've been trying to make this car look sliver for 1hr now. Its hard to photoshop a light color on top of your already black paint. The fact that your color sample is a TRUE metalic silver makes it a bit difficult. I'm not saying I gave up on it, but it may take a bit longer. I'm going to try with the other image.

I do agree that this is one of the more unique looking 3rd gens. But I also think this paint makes the car look too retro. The car looks older then it really is to me (from the 60's lol). iono, just my 2 cents.

Your color combo is vary possible to photoshop. still working on yours. will repost soon.
is that your convertible car?
if so, then i dont know how the black bottom, orange top, with a black convertible top would look when the top fades, but i can be sure that the black top orange bottom and faded black convertible top would look TERRIBLE!
i say black bottom orange top FTW

yea, I know...
I thought about having an orange top made. Not only is that going a bit far, it would look crazy. But I almost never drive with the top up anyway (got the car for how it looks with the top down). I only park it that way.

okay everyone, I'm slicing up some images and making a .PSD (photoshop document) freely available for download. I have already done all the cutouts. You will be able to change the color of all the following;
- solid color paint job
- 2 tone paint job
- thick hood stripe kit (soon)
- thin hood stripe kit (soon)
- ground effects kit
- 1st gent style RS stripe
- hood louver color
- grill color (soon)
- conv. top color (soon)
- iroc rims
- rim lip (maybe)
compatible with Photoshop 7, CS, CS2, CS3, CS4 and some versions of Paintshop pro
all of the above is kept on it's own separate layer and color can be controlled individually. color combo's are endless. depending on how well this go's, I may do the same for interiors.

I love it.. do you know the paint code or the actual name?
Thanks!
I don't know the actual name. It was 1st painted gold, then a custom mixture of pearls where painted on top. The name of the mix is called Tangerine, don't know what pearls where mixed.
