Hit & run...

this is what i found this morning...

Apparently some asshat smashed into my car, which was parked in the most secure place I know of - my private parking spot BEHIND THE BUILDING. Apparently it happened after 11PM yesterday, some white van was making a three-point turn in the parking access alley, pedal to the metal. First they smashed into my car, then backed straight into the building on the opposite side, smashing their rear glass, and flew away the way they came. There are wheelspin marks all over the place. Too fast for any of the neighbors to see the plates or even what model it was exactly...

And I only have a one-way insurance The Montreal police is on the case, but I'm not counting on anything to come out of it...

The door is not dented in any way, the bumper seems fine too. There's a lot of black bumper residue and some of their paint on mine, I'm scared to clean it off to see what's underneath... There's definitely a small dent in the quarter panel, clearly see in the picture, and a big portion of paint chipped off the wheel arc in a few spots. In some places you see the black primer, and in one it's all the way to bare metal...

Any ideas how much this might cost?

Re: Hit & run...

That's the third time she's been hit when parked within the last two years. Four in total (rear ended for >2000$ damage by a typical soccer mom in an SUV)

Not counting a dozen near misses.

I absolutely, positively despise Quebecois drivers :/

Thanks for the kind words guys, I'll get her back to spotless condition ASAP. I've just gotten a raise and paid off my credit card, so things are looking good.

Still hurts, tho...

Re: Hit & run...

From the looks of it most of that will rub out with either some cleaner wax or rubbing compound except for the one scratch that looks like it goes down to the primer. Somebodies cat did pretty much the same thing to my hood last month, it looked like s**t till I hit it with some rubbing compound. I seen the cat literally attacking my hood. I wish I had the bb gun handy cause I would of got him good! My cat regularly whips up on that cat though so I do have some kind of revenge lol.

Re: Hit & run...

Think it was a cat? It looked to me like some kid picked up a rock from the gravel driveway and did this on purpose...

Actually, I woudn't feel so bad if it's just a cat... Heck, do you know of any efficient cat repellents? mothballs all over?

Re: Hit & run...

And I'm definitely gonna tarp it... Crapload of rustproofing inside all panels, then cover. I think you're right about cats. There's hundreds of them back there, crapping all over the parking alley :/

No dent ('83 SMC hood), just a massive scratch

Re: Hit & run...

I don't know if that was a cat or not, just saying what happened to me. But it does look like some kind of animal claw marks. Could of been a possum or raccoon though, they get pretty big and mean here. I think if a rock/kid did it there be some kind of dust from the rock. The best cat repellent is a large dog lol.

Re: Hit & run...

My two Camaros live inside (when not laying down rubber) and it pains me if they aren't!

That looks allot like when people use your car for a shelf. They can't just sit something on there, they have to sliiiiide it back. Fat cow purse marks look similar but slant the other way as they round your car hugging it like a rodeo contest while lazily letting their coat/purse drag over the corner. Cats generally don't make marks that wide. Clear coat scratch remover should take allot of it out.
