So I have done a few searches and have not found what I am looking for. I have a 1990 Camaro RS that I bought for $500 from a junkyard. I took it home jumpstarted it and it purred.

The front bumper cover is cracked and the front GFX is completely broken into two pieces. I am on an island in Alaska and most places won't even ship here, and if they do the shipping would literally be 3 to 4 times the cost of a bumper.

I was able to score an IROC hood, both front fenders, and a front bumper cover off of an 85 berlinetta. I traded a smog era 350 out of a truck for the parts.

I am wondering if anyone has any pictures with the base bumper on an RS. I would have grabbed the rear bumper cover off the berlinetta but it was trash.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Please only offer constructive criticism and keep in mind I AM ON AN ISLAND IN ALASKA. I can't just run to the local junkyard and pick up a new bumper or whatever. There is a lot of good information on this site, however I DO NOT agree with the arguing and bashing of peoples posts here. We are part of this community/brotherhood to help one another, not to insult or hurt feelings.

Tucker, I'm not sure what you are trying to tell him, but there is certainly a difference between the base model front bumpers and the ones with the ground effects. Scott said in that other thread that the bumper cover was the same between 85 and 92, but that only applies to the bumpers with ground effects


personally I think it looks odd to put a non GFX bumper on a car that has GFX on the rest of it. it messes up the line, and no, I don't have a picture to prove it

@tucker.... I am not sure what you were trying to communicate with your post either?? There is a big difference in the bumpers. The base camaro bumper has no GFX for starters.

@mark....... I think it is a very good possibility it could look odd, but I have done about 8 hours of research and have not found a single picture to look at to even look at how odd it will look. I have been unsuccessful in finding a picture anywhere on the Internet. (maybe because it is hideous??)

I may end up attempting to repair my front GFX but it would be nice to see some pix.

I've seen one, but I'm thinking it might have been a firebird nose on a trans am body.

It was not a good look, out of proportion, like a shrunken head on a regular body

if you want some tips on how fix ground effects, I can help. I've doe it with good success.

of course it depends on how bad you're talking about

Overall the GFX is in good shape, but like i said previously it is broken in two pieces. The break is relatively clean and in a spot that a support backing can be screwed or epoxied on to aid in repair.

The problem with the The repair epoxy and such is that they will not ship to me. Anything that comes to me is either flown or barged in and chemicals and paint are not allowed (for residential anyway).

Do you think I could score some from a local body shop?

You should be able to yes. They also make sandable urethane repair for gfx and bumpers that comes in a two part mix tube, also available at body shops. If they'll let you order through them, hook them up with a tip.

I think I will give repairing the GFX a shot. It may be the easiest route for me.
