Hey so I'm getting really sick and tired of my pop up headlights not working all the time, and I don't really like the look anyway so... I'm gonna be putting in my own headlights, but I need to know what kind would be legal?? or atleast not get me pulled over, if I had white fog lights or running lights set about where the stock lights would be, do you think that would get me pulled over? how about white LED's??? I'm gonna take the stock housing completely out, and then put in a light (If I can find one) that is about 2inch high and then fiberglass the hood to cover up the big hole that will be there so that it looks like the hood is completely solid (no spots for pop-up headlights like there is stock). It will look like it does when the headlights are folded down stock, that is if I can find the right headlight assembly... (2x4 inch would be amazing to find, if anyone has any idea where I could get that, please say something haha I was thinking a 95 camaro's headlight possibly.. or LED lights.. or fog lights...????)

Well first I'm not sure what the laws are in your area, But for lights are not really legal as they are not DOT approved.
There are a few on this site that have done pop up head light delete systems. You might want to do a thread search in this section ( body ) or try in the fabrication,
finally you will need headlights that have high and low beams to be legal, You could always use HIDs And that little area that is there when the headlights are closed is very narrow
I know there was one guy on here who welded metal on his hood to close off his pop up area and ran some smaller lights that peaked threw that little area.
And a woman used some thin driving lights on hers, I believe you'll find the post in the fabrication section.

But keep in mind, if you change the height of the light, you change how it lights up a road. The problem with driving cars that have lower lights than trucks is they don't shine over the tall grass along ditches like trucks do, so it's harder to see deer coming through the ditch at you. And you're possibly talking about lowering them further in a low car.

You might be best off using a light from an existing vehicle and customizing the car to fit it. I have thought of using a housing from a late (Last) model Honda prelude for my '85 T/A. Might be about the right size/shape to do it.

Thanks for the input guys, I've been thinking about pulling the lights from a '95 Grand Prix and fabricating them in... but here's another question, do you think it would look bad if I put a 4x6 headlight in and fabricated around it and made it flow into the hood?? would it look alright???

You know, they do pop up delete kits for Vettes and 4th gens, yet no thirdgens.

I dislike our lights too. Don't see why they don't make a kit like this:

I think the reason they don't make something like this for our car is the manufactures don't believe there is a profitable market for them. Like most people who have vettes also have more money to do such things to there cars, And they figure us third gen bird owners don't since our cars don't cost as much, Those vette lights go for something like $500 and up.
So we are left with designing and building our own.
