They sell a fiberglass piece like this to mimic Corvette style tail lights...

Re: Any ideas on how to recreate these tail lights?

If you want to change your tail lights, go ahead, but taillight covers have to be one of the cheesiest mods you can do, right up there with chrome door protectors.
Resist the urge to slap crap on your car to "personalize" it. Really look at it and see if it works with the rest of the car. If you like the style charge, you can probably make it look a lot better by modifying the light itself.
To me, those covers look like black painted shoe box lids with holes cut in them.

Not bad, it flows with the rest of your car. People mistake these cars for vettes, I bet you get that a lot now. haha

I think the taillight cover the OP showed reminds me of an early 2nd gen Camaro taillight.

Re: Any ideas on how to recreate these tail lights?

My problem with it is, the fiberglass piece cost almost 400.00 and you still need the vette lenses, which I'm sure are close to 200.00....that's a FULL nitrous package.... or a nice chunk of whatever mustang eattin goodies yo heart desires...and now there's no side reflector for those...awesome people who can't park at night

Re: Any ideas on how to recreate these tail lights?

Your right it is about $400 depending on where you buy it...then you need the lights...and paint..but the P.O bought it, not me...(but I would have) ..My friend rewired the lights to operat like the lights on a vette...

I did get pulled over one night by Ohio high way patrol...they where behind me..ran the plate it comes back as camaro...but he sees the vette lights..he said when he walked up on the side after pulling me over he felt dumb...

I fixed the mix match look of having a blinker on the front side and not the back side...I shaved the front...lol

I will admit your car looks great, but it's in spite of those covers. They still clearly look like covers. I understand that everyone wants to modify their ugly tail lights since most third gens have cheesy tail lights (except 82-84 firebirds and 85-92 trans ams) but I still think things that are obviously add ons only detract from the car.

Any ideas? I just like the unique look and was more going for the early 70's camaro look, not corvette.

Re: Any ideas on how to recreate these tail lights?

I've seen many members here red out the amber sections and reverse, just that looks a lot better.
The problem with the whole corvette tailight or similar is that they just don't match third gen cars.
If you are going to do anything that eliminates the wrap around the corner, you have to do something to fill the wrap area, not just cover it. If you really want something besides color or other basic mods to the tailights, I would swap in firebird tails , they really go with third gen style a lot better. It will take some fab work to get it to look good.
I had a 83 berlinetta in high school and I loved the look of it, except when I looked at the tailights. They're much too busy and square. It's the main reason I decided I liked trans Ams better.
If I had a camaro still , I would definitely red out the tails. Very little from early f bodies looks good on third gens, they are just too different in style. Notice the 5th gens look good with the retro tails because the whole car is much more retro style. Even there, they modified the roundness to match the less round body.
Hope this helps.

Re: Any ideas on how to recreate these tail lights?

I'm somewhat surprised nobody makes a 1pc bumper cover with integrated tail lights like a C4.

I had a C4, and the rear end (91-96) is the best part. The big rounded bumper with the square tail lights look awesome.

Something similar, especially on a firebird would look great.
